We didn't bother. DD has a very regular constitution which I didn't think needed any help  so we skipped prunes.

The day DH gave DD prunes...she loved them, so he fed her the whole jar  The rest of the day wasn't so pleasant

We've given Jack 3 spoonfuls (his small spoon) when he's a little backed up. Works like a charm....about 3 times the next day
but it really gets things moving!!
My friend gives it with rice cereal to try to balance it out....I'm not sure I agree though
eta: Jack loves it...eats it right up like candy

My DD loves prunes. I only feed them to her once in while. When I do, I only give her a couple of tablespoons, once a day until the container is done (3 days). It keeps her regular! Sometimes I mix them a little with her barley cereal.

Ha Ha....I didn't really believe that prunes worked that good. Well the one time we gave half a jar to each boy and OH MY GOD...the amount of crap that came out of them the rest of the day. I think i went through 10 diapers that night! No more for them!

DD LOVES Prunes.
I give them to her all of the time - only had a problem once.
Most of the time, I try to give her Bananas in the same day or the night before - never have a problem

Prunes...no way Jose... I gave him 1 tbsp once and that was it. Didn't really see the need. Why look for trouble...
The only time I would give prunes is only when necessary like if DS were to get constipated.
