I feel like an awful mother
This morning I was done changing and getting DD dressed and she was sitting on her changing table playing with a stuffed animal she loves...it fell, and she went to look it at in the floor and fell of the changing table..I literally had my head turned for a second, and I NEVER do that...I turned and actually saw her falling I keep replaying it in my head and just crying.....I keep freaking out that she has a concusion or something..we went to the ped and he said she was fine....but I just keep freaking out and watching her, she is down for a nap now, but I'm this close to going in and waking her up bc I'm soooo nervous...and I can't help but see the image of her falling in my head

Re: I feel like an awful mother
I know how you feel. Same thing happened to me last night. We were getting ready for a Halloween party and I had her on the bathroom sink...turned for 2 seconds...and boom!! She bit her tongue and it was bleeding. She gagged right away...so I though concussion. I thought she hit her head on the tile floor but she said she didn't. She was fine in 5 min...but boy I felt like a horrible mother. Just keep an eye and her and keep going and checking on her while she is sleeping. Hope the both of you feel better.

You ARE NOT a awful mother. I cant tell you how many times there have been posts like this and there are always 810 replies about how someones DC fell off the changing table, fell off the bed, my DS fell down an entire flight of stairs!!!!!!
If youre an awful mother than the vast majority of us are all awful mothers too. Dont beat yourself up, like us, you live, you learn.

excuse me, *i* never did that. instead, i let him fall backward and smash his head on the side of the changing table. more than once!
but he has fallen down and smacked his head on the couch legs... um... let's say more than a few times
Holly is right - she won't even remember this!
ETA: for horrific grammar!

If you're a horrible mother, then every parent on earth is right along with you -
I think it would be close to impossible to find a child that has NEVER taken a fall .........

Re: I feel like an awful mother
I want to cry with you reading this. That must have been so upsetting and scary. I still cry thinking about when I clipped DDs fingers with the nail clipper, almost 8 mths later. I am glad she is ok though.

you will stop replaying it eventually, I kept playing my DS fall down the stairs, complete with sound effects in my head over and over. Everyone will be OK, you included!!!!!!

My DS fell down 12 wooden stairs last month. I went to grab his hand and he slipped and fell. It was horrible! I was crying more than he was. It is scary to see, but you are not a horrible mom. It was an accident and accidents happen!

I've lost count of how many times I've bumped my kid's heads on the car door while trying to put them in their carseats.
They're fine.
No worries...it happens to the best of us!

these things happen to everyone. DH fell asleep w/ DS on our bed. He rolled off and was bleeding from his nose. we took him to the PED and he was fine, but my DH still feels so guilty to this day
