i feel bad--- please only give me good advice I am already soo upset
So I have told you all that I got the lead in the opera where I go to grad. Well I found out today that the big tech week is the week of my best friend's wedding. I bought the dress and everything. Well I got an ultimatum today that I either pick the role or go to the wedding. I just had to pick the role its my job. My Best friend said she completely understands... I am just sooo upset about it. Did I make the right decision?? I mean this has been my dream to get a lead and it gets reviewed by the Times. Its just sooo uspetting

My friend since I was 3 was going to be in my wedding. She was in law school and got an internship the summer of my wedding.
I was upset that she was going to miss my wedding but NOT upset that she picked that over my wedding.

I would feel bad to, but this seems like one of those opportunities that if you pass up you might regret.
I would have taken the role too.

I think you made the right decision. And if your friend is being supportive
than she thinks you made the right decision.

You're doing the right thing. To be the lead in an opera that's reviewed by the Times... that could mean so much for you. It sounds like your friend is a great person, that she didn't go all bridezilla on you about it. Don't beat yourself up over it! This is a great achievement and everyone around you is happy for you!

You absolutely did the right thing, like you said this is your career!!!! The wedding is just one day and you can't let that stand in your way!! I'm glad your friend understands, that just goes to show 1) that you've got a great friendship and 2) that proves that you did the right thing.

I agree with PP.
Your friend is supportive of the opportunity and understands the difficult situation you are in.
I am sure she will be bummed you can't be there, but she knows it's not because you don't want to be there but because something is preventing you from being there.
Just try to be around for her during the wedding planning process and such so at least you are a part of the special day in spirit.

As much as I appreciated everyone coming to my wedding, it is one day, and the bride doesn't really spend time with any one person in particular. I would understand if you were my friend, and I think you made the right decision.

I think you made a good choice, and your friend really understands, which shows her maturity. Honestly? In addition to sending a gift, I would do something special that morning...like send her "wish I could be there" flowers at home; something to let her know that you're really thinking of her on BOTH of your special days.....

your friend is a good person for being understanding.
i got a rotation to go to Australia the summer before my sister's weddding in October (i was back in sept.) and she gave me sh*t about not being around to help her before the wedding (i was the MOH). I didn't miss anything but the summer preparations.
you have to do the opera, it's as important to your future as your friends wedding is to hers.

Its called Griffelkin and its in english... its at Manhattan school of Music... OMG that would be a great thing if any of the ladies from LIF could come its the second week of December
