i dont know much about these things...
but would you do this?
You had a baby 12 days ago. Yesterday was the last day of school and you're a teacher so all your friends are at the bar. Would you bring the baby to hang out at the bar?

i dont know much about these things...
If it was a quick stop to say hi to everyone and show off my kid then leave soon after; possibly. . . .but to hang at the bar for extended amount of time.. . . no.

i dont know much about these things...
i would definitely not take the newborn, but i might try to get DH or a family member to watch LO for a couple of hours while i say hi (if i were feeling up to it)

I guess it would depend on
how I felt (I had c-sections, 12 days later I was still sore)
the baby's temperment (DC had reflux and cried ALOT)
how crowded the bar was (if it was crowded, no way)
the weather(as long as it wasn't flu season)
But if I was up to it and the bar was not ridiculously loud and crowded, I could see meeting up with friends.

I met a friend for lunch at a bar 1 week after having my baby. She stayed home with Daddy. I got out and felt human again!

Agreed - I *might* stop by and say hello if I wasn't completely sleep deprived and the baby was doing well, but I wouldn't be out hanging out in a public place with the baby with me that soon.
That said, I wouldn't judge someone who chose to do so. I'd be more amazed than anything else that they can stay awake for more than a few minutes. At that point in DD's life, I was spending 2 hours feeding her and trying to pump to get milk in then I'd have an hour to wash up, change her, put her back to sleep, then it would be time to start over again. (I was practically narcoleptic, I was so tired constantly.) So someone with it together enough to be able to step out of the house that soon pretty much awes me.

I was pretty awed by that as well! but given that i know nothing about babies, i didnt know if that was a common thing (not that i see many newborns when i hang out in bars lol)

We talking a neighborhood bar that maybe serves food? Like at 6 pm?
I'm sure no one would take their baby to a young scene bar at 11 pm
I see no problem with first scenario
