I cant decide on a car
Odyssey -
Cheaper w/ same options (price is always neg. but this is the info I have now)
Back up camera w/o paying for Navigation
No Security Deposit with Honda Financial
No paying over mileage fee ($200) on my current lease
Better Handling
I like the Navigation system better
No auto hatch door w/o the touring model (most $$$)
Road noise more pronounced
Rear crash tests 50MPH
I like the exterior styling better
Sienna -
Nicer interior
Comes in AWD which hubby wants
Better Stereo available
No back up camera w/o getting Navigation System ($1500)
Smoother Ride
1 MPG worse gas mileage
Auto rear hatch door
Rear crash test 35MPH
They are both comperable in quality and reliability. The Sienna is SLIGHTLY better at Consumer Reports.
Someone please help me

Although I love the Honda, I would get the Toyota becase of the AWD.

My friend has the Odyssey and has nothing but good things to say. I've driven it as well and thought it was really nice and easy to handle.

We just got a brand new Odyssey last week and I absolutely love it!
Besides the fact that we love Hondas, we went with it because it is a little bigger than the Sienna (we have 4 children).

I just noticed you mentioned the rear hatch not being automatic unless you get the Touring model.
I was disappointed about that because on our last minivan (Pontica Montana) the rear hatch was so heavy. I swore our next car was going to have the auto hatch. Anyway, the Touring Odyssey was way out of our budget -we got the EXL with navigation and DVD - so we don't have the auto hatch, but I have to say this hatch is so light and much easier to close than our old van - so now I am not disappointed at all.

I went to drive the Sienna yesterday at a local Toytoa dealer Couldnt see the person you did. Was treated like ignorant woman who would take "the manager is going to yell at me" since I am doing you such a favor I also got asked "where is your husband"

Isn't that funny that you had a salesman in Honda that was decent, mine was an ultra-douche & I loved toyota & everything about the way I was treated & you got treated like crap
So much for consistency!

I guess it's all about the person. My dad sold cars for 25 years and was loved by all. I guess he wasn't like the slime at the Honda dealer for you and Toyota dealer for me

hey that's even funnier, I grew up "in the car business" too. My stepdad was a car dealer & we owned used car lots & 1 new car dealership. I even worked in the business till I was about 25.
We figured out through talking My guy Brenden knew my Stepdad & stepgrandpa(they both passed away) they were sort of legendary in the business. A couple of other guys in the dealership even came over to meet me & chat about "the good old days".
What's even funnier is Irwin Garsten, the guy that OWNS Apple Honda for 100 years was close personal friends with my Grandfather, he wasn't there the day I went in & even though I told the slime-ball that he STILL treated me like crap.

I would want AWD especially since you live out east and the weather can tend to be a little agressive out there.

Usually I say Toyota, but I test drove both today and really liked the Honda much more than the Toyota. DH was shocked b/c I've been driving Toyota's exclusively for 10 years now.

I think the smoother ride and the AWD make the Toyota more attractive to me. I have AWD on my current car for the first time and I LOVE it, even in the rain. I feel like it makes a huge difference and I feel safer with it.

does the difference in the crash tests in any way cancel out the safety feeling you'd get with AWD?

the crash test difference is really so minimal. They both perform fantastically in crash tests (although yes, the Odyssey has a higher rear crash test speed). I have AWD now and I do feel much safer with rain/snow driving than I would with FWD. Yes the AWD is super since we take the kids upstate to the ILs.

We were between the Odyssey and Sienna too, and chose the Odyssey. It came down to more for the money, since they really are so similar. FWIW, I really like it (and I was really anti-minivan!).
