i cannot STAND
when people i don't know tell me to "smile" 
"smile, it can't be that bad"
"why don't you smile?"
"you can smile, you know"
what if i am having the most awful farking day and i don't WANT to smile?? argh... this is such a huge pet peeve of mine with people i actually know - WHO in their right mind thinks that this is okay to say to someone they have never met???

I want to punch these people in the head!
I was in Staples one day, and I was minding my own business, and this guy comes up to me and says, "oh come on, it can't be that bad.. smile, I know you can do it, come on, come on!"
I said "you are annoying " and walked away...
People need to shut their pie holes and leave me alone!!!

I could have written this word for word. I guess I have one of those faces that if i am not smiling--I look pizzed. People have stopped me in the streets asking me to smile.
I am not even an unhappy person.
But like you I get angry
I say to them "go poop in a hat"

i think this is my "problem"! since middle school people have been telling me to smile - geez, so sorry my face doesn't appeal to you 
normally i just smirk or turn away, but this old guy was so persistent today that i actually said "do i KNOW you??"
he was shocked and the lady behind him laughed - that made me smile a little

I hate this too! Don't get it a lot - but people need to mind their own beeswax - they have no idea what may be going on with you.
I'll never forget a perm sub who we always had said it to me one day in high school - "smile, it can't be THAT bad" - and my friends went up to her and were pretty much like "nice move, her grandfather died two days ago!"

I HATE this! I normally just say something snarky like "If you give me a $100 i'll smile and if not then why should I smile at you?" Not very nice, but I get my point across that I don't care what they think
