Husbands attending showers
My DH is coming to the shower. We talked about it the other day and feel that the shower is for our future daughter, not really for just me.
Anyone elses DH going to the shower?

Re: Husbands attending showers
yes. i wanted him there so I made it coed. I don't even think we are going to meet our 30 person minimum and that's with guys!! But I just couldn't bear the thought of celebrating DD without him. He is so involved in everything else, why not also be congratulated, get to see the gifts and remember that special day?
ETA: the men will probably be sitting at the bar watching TV while the girls play games and open gifts.

DH might sit in the restaurant at a different table. I think for my bridal shower, he showed up after gifts.

Re: Husbands attending showers
I agree that the shower should be in honor of our baby, not me, so we're having a coed shower so my DH can be there. At first he didn't like the idea but now that he knows coed showers are becoming common he's really excited. I think he's actually more excited than I am! He already told all of his friends about it and they're all excited too. We're just having a casual backyard party so all the guys feels comfortable.

Re: Husbands attending showers
I don't think there is anything wrong with it if thats what a couple wants to do!
But for me, I don't know..I was OK with DH not being there. I think he would not have wanted to go if I had asked him (my shower was 6 years ago!), it would have been him with 50 women and I just always associate it with a time for the women to get together, you know? He did however show up about 20 minutes before it ended to say hello to everyone and help bring the gifts to the car. Same as for the bridal shower.
I feel most guys just wouldn't have much of an interest in the showers...I don't think they feel slighted by missing it either, i think they are OK with it! But if its something a husband wants to be at, more power to them!

My DH had no interest and went to a restaurant right next door. He walked in with me, it wasn't a surprise, he said hi to everyone and then left. He came back when it was over.

Re: Husbands attending showers
I'm not having a shower because I'm Jewish and the whole superstition thing. However, I've been to 3 showers in the past month (so many pregnant friends!) and one did have the husband attend. I see nothing wrong with it - and you're right, the shower is for the baby!

This would be my DH...and he is a very hands on dad who was so involved in the pregnancies and doing everything after the babies were born..but when it comes to showers, he just thinks BORING and honestly I kind of do sometimes too, even at my own, lol! Although baby showers are always nice and a cute way to celebrate a baby of course...I just know he'd take a few hours of silence or going to the gym instead and leave that stuff to me!

Re: Husbands attending showers
My DH brought me there and came in and said hello then left. He and my dad and all the other uncles, dads, guys went to Chilis to watch Hockey.
They all came back at the end to help with the gifts and pick up their spouses.
There is no way my DH would have wanted to be at the shower but if yours does that great!

Re: Husbands attending showers
i have been to one 'shower' where DH & male friends were there. it was a backyard party that turned into a beerpong, loud music bbq rather than a shower celebrating the baby.
my DH is so involved with everything- from the second we got our first BFP with our first DD. he went to everything, we registered together, made decisions together, etc. but he wanted nothing to do with the shower- said it was for women and he would go off with the men and have a good time.
i'm not opposed to men being there at all, i just think most don't want too because they don't oooooh & aaahhhhh over baby booties and breastpumps and nipple cream like women do
