Hugs please...
I know I am lucky in so many ways but after visiting the nutritionist to control my GD, I just want this pregnancy to hurry up. Before this I was loving literally every minute of it but this diet is so strict and with work its so I cant stop crying because all I keep thinking is that my happy pregnancy was stolen from me. I know its also just for 2 more months but I feel like I cant go out to dinner with friends or anything. Thanks for letting me vent.

Re: Hugs please...
I remember my major meltdowns after fidning out I had GD with my 1st pregnancy. I cried thru the entire nutritionalist meeting and have no clue why. I was so stressed out on trying to be strict but yet I was starving all the time and so confused. The high risk ob was great to me - he ordered me to spike here and there (I had my numbers so low from being so strict) and even told me I need to have a drink and ordered a glass of wine (didn't do it though). Just so you know you aren't alone in how you feel.
The whole diet can be hard esp the schedule and timing with work and metting and such (I was super busy at work at that time and so hard to deal with) but after a week you start to get use to it (I never liked a minute of it though but got use to it). Just think not much longer and you'll have your beautiful baby. I got lucky and went three weeks early - maybe you will go early too and less to deal with - lol
If you need to talk FM me!!

Re: Hugs please...
I understand where you are coming from ... I've had a lot to deal with during this pregnancy and every event I have promised myself to smile through it and enjoy the pregnancy no matter what ...
I've been to the hemotologist for anemia, the gastroentorologist for colitis, I had a colonoscopy un-sedated!, I've had to go for genetic counseling, I had a sinus infection that wouldn't go away for over a month ... the straw that broke the camel's back was being diagnosed with PUPPP's 2 weeks ago. I cannot explain the itch and pain from that rash. I would get colonsocopies every day just to get rid of that rash. Now, being diagnosed with GDM and having to monitor/diet/etc for the next 10-11 weeks, I am just done. I feel beat. I pray the baby develops rapidly and I go early.
Hang in there! FM if you need to talk or want to discuss food ideas

I am so sorry. How limited is your diet? Maybe we can find some ways to make it better for you.

Re: Hugs please...
I would do some research online regarding the GD diet. I never really found it all that strict and was able to adapt it to my lifestyle.
I do remember one thing though...I come from a family of diabetics so we have recipes that we follow for certain occasions that we have either received from a diabetic magazine, doctor, or nutritionist..I remember eating, for my birthday mind you, strawberry shortcake made with sugar free angel cake, sugar free homemade whip cream, and strawberries...The nutritionist that I went to you told me I couldnt have that!!!!!!! Which was ridiculous b/c the recipe came from a nutritionist who specialized in diabetes!!! Go figure.
Anyway....as you start to test your blood sugar levels you will start to see what works for you and what doesnt. You might be able to sneak in that "slice of pizza" here and there as long as it doesnt cause a huge spike in you blood sugar...which my high risk OB at LIJ let me do while I was hospitalized!!!!

I'm sure it is really tough. I'm so sorry you are going through this. I know it stinks, but the 2 months will fly by- and before you know it, you'll be holding your gorgeous baby boy in your hands- and this whole thing will be over!

Re: Hugs please...
I used to work for a dietician/nutrionist and would see what pregnant women with GD could eat. Its sooo restrictive and has to be so hard to completely change your lifestyle and eating habits. Hang in there! I am not even going through what you are right now, but I am not the most glowing pregnant woman and try not to focus on how much longer I have, I try to focus on each day and making the best of it. Time really does fly when you aren't thinking about how many more weeks you have. Many to you.

Re: Hugs please...
I'm so sorry!! i know pregnancy can be difficult enough -its an adjustment as it is - - without any complications so having one makes it more annoying. Hang in there!!! I go for my 3 hour glucose tomorrow and am feeling anxious about it too..
What does the diet entail?

Diane,
I most likely will be joining you on this journey tomorrow. I took my 3 hr yesterday! The good part is, at least we can support each other through the last part of this pregnancy!

Re: Hugs please...
Thanks girls! I dont know what I would do without you.
The diet is basically eating 6X a day with alot of restrictions besides the obvious cake, ice cream, candy, etc. I think its the planning ahead for home and work as far as meals. Poor DH is totally on his own for the next 2 months becuase he is a picky eater which I usually cater to but now with this diet, I am just cooking for myself.
I know its only for 2 months (god willing this goes away after delivery) and its for the baby's health... its just a rough adjustment. But its only the first day and so far, so good.
Again... I appreciate all the hugs.
