Re: How would you feel about this????????
I am sorry for your loss.
With two chemicals, I would seek additional testing, likely with a new RE. JMO

I mean maybe she is just jaded with big IVF cases and thinks a little 15dpo chemical is bullcrap?

Re: How would you feel about this????????
Unless you still had trigger in your system then you WERE pregnant and it needs to be looked at by the RE. Do you need progesterone support? Is there an immune issue? I would request a consult, put your expectations out there and see if they can meet them or not. If they can't, I would move on.

How would you feel about this????????
If you don't feel comfortable I would wait. Also with two chemicals under your belt I would have a RPL run and possibly some other blood work. In my experience the big fertility centers don't tend to be warm and fuzzy more like very clinical and to the point. I'm so sorry

I have consulted with her a few times in regards to a game plan and I often get the "blown off" treatment if I ask about different scenarios. She always redirects me and tells me 'not to worry about that' or 'don't look into that too much'. They monitor my levels well and my progesterone was always pretty good but they gave me it anyway as a boost. I feel good about the blood work and sonos but I really hate the lack of organization, personal care, or direct doctor care. The nurses usually call the shots and that bothers me bc they are often all over the place themselves!! I have decided I will go in on weds for blood work and sono just bc I want to see where my AFC is and my estrogen levels.. It can't hurt, right?

That's exactly it! More clinical and less personalized.. That really bothered me today. I feel like I am alone with this chemical. I am just going on weds for the blood and sono and will see if I can set up an earlier appt with Zapantis. He seems to have a more personalized, people friendly office.

Re: How would you feel about this????????
Ugh you are not overreacting in IMO there is so much wrong with that conversation.
First of all, yes that's insensitive. Granted I'm a sensitive person, but every positive beta is a pregnancy. Granted she probably has seen people with later losses -- 7 .. 8.. 17 ... 20+ weeks .. etc .. but that doesn't take away from the fact that this was YOUR pregnancy, YOUR glimmer of hope, and you deserve every bit of sensitivity. I would be annoyed too.
More importantly though, it seems like she's dismissing the fact that you had a chemical. Your first chemical yeah is something to watch- your second?? I'm sorry that's reason to crack out the detective work. All it took was ONE chemical when I was with Dr.B to do the full on RPL panel and we found a whole host of issues going on.
At this point I would be looking for a new RE. I'm not a fan of wasting my time. I would do another cycle there because if you wanna get in with anyone respectable, the wait could be lengthy and for me anyway, I always preferred to at least be doing SOMETHING .. but I'd be looking for another RE right now as well. Although I gotta say, I would only do another cycle if she is going to take this cycle seriously and do some testing. What's the sense of going through another cycle again and getting pregnant just to have another chemical because you didn't have valuable info? .. I would give her a chance to change things around but def look for someone else .. like NOW.. Literally. I can give you recs if you like. Dr.Braverman and Dr.Tortoriello both specialize in thrombo/immune issues if you want to get those tests done. Another option is to see Dr.Kofinas, He would see you NOW to get initial testing done and set up a protocol for when you do get pregnant - then you would come back once you are pregnant.
Ugh. This conversation with this turd doctor angers me.

They did so much blood work on me, including genetic testing but I am unsure about the immune/thrombo aspect. I would love Dr. B but he doesn't accept ins and I don't want to pay out of pocket.. And Dr. T is in manhattan right? Unfortunately, a little too far for me here on the south shore of LI. As for Kofinas, I thought he was an OB? Or is he a RE and an OB? I hear so many great things about him. My current RE thinks my main issue is my endometriosis that has caused a bit of a hormonal imbalance and has damaged my ovaries. My amh was almost .3 and my estrogen was high so she is saying my quality will affect my pregnancies and could cause miscarriage. This is why she just wants to go for IVF but my ins won't allow just yet. This is all so stressful!

I would be booking consults elsewhere. Go ahead and get the f/u sono and bloodwork, but I couldn't stand for all that chaos and lack of follow up. Something is going on and someone (the RE) needs to be getting to the bottom of it.

I honestly don't know much about AMH so I can't give much advice there - but if you did wanna look into other testing just to rule it out, Dr.Kofinas is a perinatoligst who sees you when you're pregnant, but he would also see you NOW and run the full panel to see if thrombo issues could be contributing to your chemicals.
I think Dr.B may take out of network too - i don't think he just flat out does NOT take insurance. You can always email him, he's so good about that, let me know if you would like his info. And yes- Dr.T is in the city.

Re: How would you feel about this????????
If I were you, I would try going to another office and see another Dr within the practice.
I NEVER get that kind of treatment at the W. Islip office. The Nurse is the sweetest thing. When she used to call me with my negative beta, she would be all apologetic and try to lift my spirits.
When I had my Ectopic, with every Blood Work call, she was very sweet and sympathetic.
If you are looking to go somewhere else, even to Manhattan like I think you wrote... It may be beneficial to just go to another location. Like the W. Islip or Stonybrook. I know it isn't "Convenient" but It may be worth a shot seeing another Dr. and dealing with a smaller office & staff.
I'm so sorry you are dealing with all of this.

I agree with Phyllis. I cannot even believe we belong to the same practice. Stony Brook is the complete opposite. I think you should trek to WI and see either Stelling or Halfen. Go for cd3 blood and sono. Look around for othèr RE's and maybe try for a consult out east at RSNY. I have never seen Sung so I don't know how she is but they recognize my chemical and it comes up every cycle. They are so sympathetic and positive and it kills me you aren't getting that from Mineola. I happen to be going to that office Wed for the IVF seminar. Wonder if I will meet Sung then ?

Re: How would you feel about this????????
I really like Sung for so many reasons.. she's brilliant. However, warm and fuzzy- not so much. I guess I knew that going into the whole RE thing but I never experienced a loss like this. I wanted a little more positivity but I guess that is how she keeps the process going for patients who deal with this. Overall, I think I am going to look for a less busy place all together. I can't do manhattan, nor can I do really far in the Island so I am aiming for Zapantis who is not far and accepts my ins. I am just hoping he is knowledgable with amh and endometriosis! I will def have a list of questions at the consult lol

Did you go into the city for monitoring with Dr. T?? or do they have a satellite office? I am thinking ab setting up an appt with Kofinas at least for the work up. If I can get that ruled out, at least we can focus on other stuff.

Re: How would you feel about this????????
My hatred of RSofNY knows no bounds. I only spent two months there, but it was the biggest waste of my time.
In my short two months:
1. They scheduled me for an IUI when I KNEW I had a false positive on an OPK. When I got there and they did a sono they sent me home.
2. They came this >< close to mixing up my chart with someone else's being monitored on the same day. (For those of you who know me on facebook, my last name isn't exactly "Smith")
3. They forgot to take my blood once
4. When I tell my new RE about all the things I was doing there, he almost always starts his sentences with: Well, that doesn't really help what you really should be doing is XXXXXXXXXXX.
5. They never counseled me after a failed cycle.
So, I'd go to a new practice, you might even be able to get in by CD3. I first met with Dr Zapantis in June 2012. I called for CD3 bloodwork in April 2013 and he fit me right in.

What made me walk away from them in April was: 1. They DID switch charts with me and another lady with similar first names.. poor lady had major scanning on her RT ovary for like ten minutes until they realized it wasn't her! 2. The nurse looked at my scans, looked up at me and said straight up "I don't know what's going on with you. I will just have to call you later"
Are you happy with Dr. Z? I hear very good reviews about him and I really need personalized care. Just wondering how good his IVF lab is?

Right? It doesn't sound like the same practice. The 3x I went to mineola was horrible. I only went there at first bc my DH was coming with me a d he works in Nassau. After the last time, I said no more and I go myself to w islip for monitoring (it's literally down the block from my house) and to stonybrook for procedures.

I heart Dr. Z. He does all sonos and sometimes even bloodwork. He answers all my questions. After my first failed cycle he called and the first thing out of his mouth was "I'm sorry, your pregnancy test was negative... what would you like to do next?" His nurse called me too. We work on my protocol together, and while I defer to him... I TOTALLY have a say in what's happening.
I haven't had an IVF yet, but I follow him on Facebook, and for May he did 9 IVF cycles... and 8 of them resulted in pregnancies.

Re: How would you feel about this????????
I'm so sorry for your loss. You are not being overly sensitive. Your doctor should have said something. I've had 2 losses with LIIVF, and one was a chemical. The doctor who called that day with the result of my second beta wasn't even my doctor, but she said how sorry she was about my loss and explained everything. Then when I went in to see my doctor he offered his condolences as well. I would just try again on your own for this cycle and move on to a new place. You don't need the stress of dealing with this place.

Sorry for what you are going through. I would be pissed. REs NEED to be compassionate. There is a lot of heartache in IF and they need to have a decent bedside matter. If you have any questions about Dr. Zapantis FM me. I have been going to him since January. Still on IUIS.
