I did not have an e-party and have only ever been to one. We bought them something off their registry. I can see why you would want to give them cash. In that situation, I would give about $100. If you want to give more and can afford it, then go for it. 1/2 of a wedding gift sounds good to me.

with regard to the gift for an eparty...we just attended one for SIL and her FH and they purposely did not do their registries because they wanted cash. i think that was inconsiderate of them because i know alot of people dont feel comfortable giving cash at an eparty. because she's family we gave her $300. the average gift at ours was $100 but we made sure we were registered in at least one store by the then so that people would have different options instead of just cash.
