How Much Do You Survive on a Week?

AFTER money is set aside for bills (mortgage, car, etc) and any other joint necessities (such as food shopping) what is your "allowance" for the week (whether it is money you allow yourself or it is money that your SO gives you)?

Is your allowance adequate or do you find it hard to survive on it for the week?

$40 a week, sometimes less.

The majority of the $40 goes to gas, the rest is usually food.

eta: yes, its adequate. Like I said, sometimes I even use less. I don't go for manicures or pedicures or anything - I live a simple life.

I don't give myself an allowance. There are so many factors to my week. There are weeks I spend $50 and weeks I spend $300.

we each get an "allowance" of $200 for 2 weeks. I put some of that money in a hidden part of my wallet....and try and survive on about $80 for 2 weeks. Sometimes I have to dip into the saved money but whatever is left over at the next paycheck gets put away, for a rainy day!

This week I haven't spent anything.

It varies though...One week I'll buy a bunch of new clothes, another week I won't buy anything. Most days I bring lunch to work so I don't spend a lot eating out. I don't have an allowance or limit for myself, but I generally don't go over $100 unless I am shopping for another occasion.

ETA: Forgot about gas! I usually spend $20 a week on gas. I don't do manis or pedis...

I give myself $60 a week, but I seldom use it all and usually wind up with $60 for every two weeks.

That is, if I bring my lunch and breakfast from home.

I start the week with around $100 in cash. usually I have some $ left over. but I put gas on my debit card.

I don't really keep track. We get direct deposit so the money left over stays in our account.

I take out $100 a week. That's for all incidentals and gas. If I try to do it with 80 bucks, I always come up short.

Things like clothes, groceries or "joint" things get done with our Amex or other card. But I do use my debit for some purchases...

I feel like I use my debit WAY too much so I answered more like 100-200 to be honest!

$40-50 week....That's just for my cofee, breakfast, lunch for the week. Some weeks I won't use much if I eat breakfast at home or bring my lunch. My bus fare comes out my paycheck pre-tax. DH uses the car daily so he fills up the tank.

This week I spent a lot for me and I'm not done yet - about $200 - because I hit a few sales. Normally I can survive a whole week with $5-$10 in my pocket without any trouble because I bring my breakfast and lunch to work.

We both get $100 a week but that's for personal use. Anything like gas, groceries, etc we charge to get the points and pay off right away. My $100 is for dinner out with friends, waxing, etc. Sometimes I spend all of it and sometimes none.
