How much did you spend on your child's first birthday party?

If you can list what you did and how much...

I just made a folder on my pc to plan for my sons upcoming 1st birthday party and I'm already heading over $1,000 & haven't included any food...

Tent rental: $400-$500
Pony/Petting Zoo: $300-$400
Birthday Cake: $100
Food/Beverages: ??
Decorations: ?
Edit to include invitations: $100

I'm hoping maybe I can get some other ideas from you guys and shrink the price a little. I don't have a huge home that's why I need a tent. I'm inviting approx. 60 guests, 15 kids.

Re: How much did you spend on your child's first birthday party?

we had it at my MILs house, so that was free.
Cake: $100
food/bevrages: maybe $350
decorations: $200

So, around $650. There may be other little things I bought too. But the bulk was about $650, we had around 45 people.

Re: How much did you spend on your child's first birthday party?

Probably just under $1500, we had about 80 people at a hall type place.

Re: How much did you spend on your child's first birthday party?

I think it was around $1500 or so...maybe $2k

I had it at a restaurant so food and cake were all covered, or maybe that was the part that was $1500 Chat Icon

I had a face painter/balloon person for about $175.

Invitations were about $80..

Favors for the kids were fairly cheap, probably cost about $30, and then maybe another $50 for balloons and the chocolate (I made chocolate lollypops).

The rest of the decorations (aside from the balloons) came from a friend who had the same theme only 3 months before so those were free.

Re: How much did you spend on your child's first birthday party?

We had it at home. I made two cakes, one for DD and one for all the other people that were celebrating their birthday that day (2), as well as within the week (3 others). I made lasagna, DH made penne a la vodka, we had bread & butter, soda, and coffee.

we had one party at a restaurant for 50 family members and then had a party at a friends house for our friends (like 30 people) which we catered in. Altogether for everything I am going to say around $2000....maybe slightly more

one more thing....have you thought about getting your cake at BJs? They happen to make delicious cakes and they're SUPER cheap. you can also give them a picture two days before the party and they'll put it on the cake. i did that for DD's baby naming and everyone loved it.

I am too - we spent a little less than $800.

$600 on food & semi-private room at J&R Steakhouse in Islip. Would have been $800 if all 40 invited guest had shown up, but only 30 did. Cake and cupcake favors $140 and the other $50 or so was misc stuff.

This was a combo 1st Birthday/Christening Party. Church Service was 10am and we all went to the steakhouse right after for lunch....

Re: How much did you spend on your child's first birthday party?

oh my, I'm still prego but can't imagine spending this much on a 1st birthday that they'll never remember. We'd prob just order some dishes and have it at our house with close family and friends. No entertainment except music and good company.

Re: How much did you spend on your child's first birthday party?

Probably around $1,500. We had it at a hall because DS's birthday was in April and there were too many people to have in our house.

We are having DS #2's 1st birthday at our house so it will probably be a little less expensive but I am figuring $1k

Re: How much did you spend on your child's first birthday party?

Not that much. We did it at our house (family only). We had catered food and a really nice cake.

All told, it probably cost about $500.00, including favors, etc. DS had a ball and we figured that we would save our $$ and splurge later on when he is old enough to remember the event.

We did do a fancier Baptism party for him, at a restaurant that ran us about $2500, all told.

Re: How much did you spend on your child's first birthday party?

we had about 80/90 people

park permit $155
liquor permit $55
on site Caterers $2000 (included all food plus beverages NO beer)
beer $100
favors $200
cake $25
Decorations $50
Pinanta $25
Candy $15
misc $200
i made the invites & printed them

we spent way too much.. for DDs we arent going to have on site caters so that will save us a HUGE chunk of cash

Re: How much did you spend on your child's first birthday party?

I think it was between $3500-4000 all said an done. It was a brunch for 100 people at a restaurant. Then decorations, favors and entertainment.
