how far in advance would you buy diapers?
size 1 and size 2 if I bought a box of each now and not due until March? Crazy idea?

I wouldn't go crazy buying diapers quite yet.
Although I will say I made a diaper cake for my friend and had leftover diapers so now I have some size 1's for my baby which is not due til january :)

BTDT - I know which ones I like. I wouldnt buy a ton of newborn and go right to 1 and 2.

I haven't bought 1 diaper and feel like I Have about a gazillion NB, 1s and 2s from other people.
But if you know what you like, have a place to store them and know you'll use them, why not??

I havent bought any. I do have 2 packs of newborns and 2 packs of size 1 that were givent o me. But I wont buy any until DD gets here. I know with DS we tired several different diapers before we found what worked for him. So we will wait and do the same this time.

how far in advance would you buy diapers?
If they are on sale and its a good sale then I would buy them. My DS has been in size 2's the longest.
I would not buy a bunch of NB but I even have size 3s waiting for when my DS needs them.

I wouldn't buy that many in advance because we went through so many to get the right fit and all to make sure she wasn't leaking all the time. We finally settled on huggies (pampers made her super red) but I hear boys are entirely different and sometimes they need a completely different type.
I just plan to get a box each of nb and size 1s and take it from there after he's here. You can always do amazon 2-day delivery if you need it asap.

If theyre on a really good sale and you have space o store them it couldnt hurt. Just dont buy too many NB sized diapers bc some babies grow out of them quickly. We bought a box of 100 NB size to start and got a diaper cake made of size 1 diapers as a shower gift. So we feel like we have a good amount to start with, but we plan to buy maybe a couple more boxes of size 1 before the baby comes.

I had been gifted enough newborns to last me, but I think you should stock up on 1's and 2's. we received 1's but i don't think it will be enough and we have no other diapers after those... I wish we had 2s around just in case.

We didnt buy any and we have 3 weeks to go. A friend made us a diaper cake so we're good with NB and size 1 diapers. We got 3 packs of size ones from our shower and I will not buy any size 2 until after she is born because we do not have any storage space.

I don't see the need for advance purchase of large quantities of diapers .......it's not like you or DH can't run out to the store and pick them up - I think one small package is fine to start - You have no idea how big the baby will be
Especially the NB size - My 1st went straight to size 1, and pretty quickly to size 2 - I had a ginormous box of NB diapers that I gave away ........

I got a box of NB pampers 240 count from amazon for $35 with free shipping. Then I bought a box of size 1 276 count pampers brand from diapers.com for about $40. All of the above where bought on sale with multiple coupons applied. Had I waited the sale would've been over plus my coupons would've expired as well. I should also add that the quantity for each box was more than any other wholesale place was offering at the time. For instance, bj's was selling NB pampers 140 count for about $28.99 and size 1 246 count for about $42ish. Oh while in bj's I had a huggies coupon along with the bj's coupon and got a box of huggies size 2 246 count for about $28 normally priced at 38.99!. Hth

Our hospital only gave us one diaper to go home with. DD couldn't fit in 1s and we had to use nbs for almost 2 months. I called a friend who left a box on my porch while I was in the hospital right after she was born.

I started buying yesterday because coupons expire and if I see a really good sale an have coupons I'm going to buy because I would rather get them for a good deal now then having to pay full price later on & plus I'm not going to be working once I have the baby for a few months so buying now will also help with less expenses later!

ITA. I meant I wouldnt buy too many in advance for sizing purposes. Of course, the hospital doesn't give you enough to last too long but it gives you an idea if you need newborn or size 1 to start with.

Really Sandra? that's crazy. I had a shopping bag full of pampers. I can't believe they only gave you one. DS was in NB also once I ran out of the hospital supply. He was teeny tiny and the size 1s were huge until he was about 6 weeks old.

We plan on waiting until after the shower to see what we get. Plus, I don't want to buy a lot of diapers in advance because the baby can be allergic them or as a mom I can not like them.

We plan on starting to buy soon with sales and coupons we see. Not due until february, but with twins on the way, and no shower for these kinds of things this time around, I want to lessen the financial blow the first few months, especially with all the formula we will need too...
