Funny, because my husband hates them and never goes… he feels that if he has to pay a girl to pay attention to him, it’s a huge turn off.
Me on the other hand- I love to go. I’ve gone with friends and co-workers and we have had a blast. I just think it makes for a fun night. It’s not something I would do every week, but once in a while it’s a great time.
And honestly- there are times were I thought- hey this isn’t’ so bad- a bet these women make more money then I do for a lot less work. I don’t find it degrading at all….

I totally don't mind if DH goes because it's a bachelor party or whatever, but to go just because it's a Friday night and he wants to look at some boobies, well, he has those at home.......

i really don't care about them. i don't like strippers but i don't have a problem going to a strip club if it's a friend's birthday or bachelorette party. i don't really care if DH goes either... i don't think it's his "thing" either but as long as he's not going there to try and grope other women i couldn't care less.

As far as how I feel about the strippers themselves? Well, I think they're pretty smart. They use every asset they have to make it in this world. More power to them. Would I want to do it? I don't think that even if I had a body like theirs that I would have the self esteem to do it, but hey...to each their own.
The only people who are foolish and degrading, IMO, are the men who go there and fork over their savings account to have their ego stroked.
I agree 100%.

Skanky and I would never go to one. Random people who grind on others for a living is not appealing to me, never has been. DH doesn't go...gets skanked out too.

DH and I both have no interest in one. He said after high school he went to one or two and really could care less.
He had no desire to have a bachelor party and many times when inviited to bachelor parties have turned them down.

I've been to both male and female. I am not a fan of the male strip clubs because they are WAY too aggressive for my taste. I went for my bachelorette party and they were lifting me up and fliping me around. Didn't lilke it. The female ones are fun. DH and I used to go a lot with our group of friends but we are really over that whole thing now. Haven't gone in over 2 years and don't plan on going back any time soon.

Again, ITA. One club owner I know is for a chain. Women came from all over the country and they travel to switch clubs. A lot of them had choices to work elsewhere, or could have done something else with ease. To make it seem like they are desperate and have no choice to strip or die is a bit skewed. There are some women that are working in these clubs to leave another country, and their price for being brought to the US is that they have to work, but that is such a small # really.
I also did club promotion for a large club in NYC. I marketed their opening, and these girls were not what you see on TV or in the movies. Its a lot of smoke and mirrors, really, and again the girls (if you talk to them) are not what they seem.
Of course you are entitled to like them or not like them...its a free country. But I hate that just because they make $$ the way they do that people think they are free to assume that they are criminals, drug addicts, or sub-human.

But I do feel like it's an easy way for beautiful women to take money away from men. I also think for the most part, those men are fooling themselves into thinking a beautiful woman would talk/rub up against them had they not had the cash.
I agree.
Iit could also be looked at as a sad testament to menl...PAYING money for a woman to PRETEND to be sexually interested in them.
I have ZERO problem with strippers (as some of you well know  ) and I think it's boring, lame, and HIGHLY presumptuous for anyone to think that it's their only way to provide a life for themselves or to make a living.
If I had the body for stripping, I'd do it in a heartbeat. there are very few other occupations that pay that well an hour and don't cost you half of your earnings paying for student loans

Just a thought - I think a lot of 'regular clubs' are WAY sleazier than strip clubs.
I mean - you go to a strip club and there are a bunch of guys salivating over a girl that they are not allowed to touch.
You go to a bar or club and there are people practically having sex in every corner of the room. People who barely know each other have their tongues jammed down each other's throat by the midnight.
I have never had my DH hit on by a stripper when we went to a strip club. But I watched as some random drunk bimbo tried to give him her number and draped herself over him while he was getting me a drink at the bar when we went to Lily Flanigans.

I have been with DH before. I would go more often if they were nicer, but most of the clubs on LI are skeevy.
I would love if someone opened one like the strip clubs in the movies- with girls coming out one by one in fancy little costumes and actually doing a strip tease. With pretty furniture, and coctail waitresses in skimpy outfits.
But it's not like that at all, which is disappointing.
As for the girls, it's never fair to judge anyone based on their occupation, so I would never presume to know anything about them, nor would I assume they are crackheads or struggling single moms. I would never make that assumption about a diner waitress, either.

I agree on most Long Island places being nasty. I used to go to places in Florida a lot. Mons Venus and Odyssey 2001. They are near Tampa and aren't the typical Long Island places. I once met the entire Tennesse Titans football coaches at a place. We sat next to them and talk to them for the entire night. Apparently all the players have curfews the night before games so we didn't get to meet any of them.
