Hmm, my DH had it and DS (12 weeks) was very fussy today and spit up too. I wasn't with him, DH was, and he assumed it was related to bottle, but I wonder.

Re: has anyone experienced an infant with a stomach virus?
My DD and I both had it - I had it BAD, she only threw up three times but has had diarrhea since Tuesday. It's slowly getting better. She's almost 22 months, though, I'm not sure how different it would be in an infant. I hope she doesn't get any worse

Give her pedialyte.. Dairy will make the diarrhea worse.. Give a little at a time after she throws up/spits up.. That virus is really bad. Watch for signs of dehydration. Little to no pee, no tears when crying, chapped lips... They dehydrate very quickly at that age..Watch out for a fever.. Call the pedi tomorrow... Hope you are all better soon...

Re: has anyone experienced an infant with a stomach virus?
DH got it last Thursday, DD (10 months) got it on New Years day and I got it Tuesday-Thursday. DD was throwing up, had diarrhea and a slight fever. Best thing is keep her hydrated. I watered DD's bottle down so it wouldn't be all formula but much more water. I also tried to give her pedialite but she won't take it. If you are still unsure- email or call your pediatrician! (I did that too for reassurance!)
Hope you guys feel better!!! This bug was NASTY!

Re: has anyone experienced an infant with a stomach virus?
DS got his first.stomach virus at 11.5 weeks. He woke up in the middle of the night and dh had said he spit up. I went in shortly after and realized it was more than that. DS was projectile vomiting formula. The most important thing to do isnto keep dc hydrated. We used pedialyte and gave him an ounce at a time until we were sure he could keep it down. We were supposed to make sure he wet his diaper at least every 12 hrs. Good luck! Stomach viruses are the worse. Especially when you have them too. Dh and I caught it.from DS and it was horrible.

I hope DD feels better. Based on these responses, I don't think DS has it, but just out of curiosity, what would you do for EBF baby?

I kept BF as much as they would tolerate.

Re: has anyone experienced an infant with a stomach virus?
My 12 month old had it last week. He was throwing up and had diarrhea like there was no tomorrow. We actually ended up taking him to the ped it was so bad.
He drank Lactaid and Pedialyte. No dairy products - lots of banana, rice (he hated it), pasta.

Aww poor Bear. I really hope it goes quick.
Especially since she is an infant, not a toddler.

DS had a nasty stomach virus when he was an infant and was vomiting all day. My ped said to continue nursing him and to only let him drink a little but for more sessions throughout the day. Like the PP mentioned, make sure she has wet diapers and watch for other signs of dehydration. Hope your DC feels better soon

Re: has anyone experienced an infant with a stomach virus?
Thanks everyone. How do I know if its time for pedialyte? She doesn't seem to have diahrrea and still has wet diapers despite not keeping much of her bottle down.

Re: has anyone experienced an infant with a stomach virus?
Scratch that, DS has it. He has thrown up (spit up a large amount) 4 times today. Here's what I got off our ped's site.
For Bottlefed Infants Offer Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) for 8 Hours: ORS (eg. Pedialyte or the store brand) is a special electrolyte solution that can prevent dehydration. It's readily available in supermarkets and drug stores. For vomiting once, continue regular formula. For vomiting more than once, offer ORS for 8 hours. If ORS not available, use formula. Spoon or syringe feed small amounts: 1-2 teaspoons (5-10 ml) every 5 minutes. After 4 hours without vomiting, double the amount. After 8 hours without vomiting, return to regular formula. For infants over 4 months old, also return to cereal, strained bananas, etc. Return to normal diet in 24-48 hours. For Breastfed Infants, Reduce the Amount Per Feeding: If vomits once, nurse 1 side every 1 to 2 hours. If vomits more than once, nurse for 5 minutes every 30 to 60 minutes. After 4 hours without vomiting, return to regular breastfeeding. If continues to vomit, switch to ORS for 4 hours. Spoon or syringe feed small amounts of ORS: 1-2 teaspoons (5-10 ml) every 5 minutes. After 4 hours without vomiting, return to regular breastfeeding. Start with small feedings of 5 minutes every 30 minutes and increase as tolerated.

I EBF my DS when he had a stomach virus and my ped said to nurse him for five minutes every 15 minutes. If he would throw up, i would wait 15 minutes and start again
