Had my Dr. appt yesterday
I went for my annual and wanted to talk about some testing. I told him we were trying since last march got pregnant in April then had the m/c in June.. he said we wanted me to wait until at least April to do any sort of testing. he said it is completely normal to take some time. If we are not pg by April he will do the HCG and DH sperm test. It is good that we have a plan I just thought we would be able to find out sooner... oh well..
When did most of your ob's do some simple testing and how or why did they start you on clomid or any other medicine?
Lets hope I wont need to have any of the test done!!

Re: Had my Dr. appt yesterday
I just went on Tuesday for my annual and mentioned that we've been trying for almost 10 months.
My Doc sent me for some basic bloodwork (hormone levels and thyroid) and we're waiting for those results to come in (next week).
She said once we get those results we can re-evaluate if there's something I need to do. She also said we could schedule DH for an SA and I could go for and HSG but I decided to wait a few months.
After the tests and SA results then we would talk about medications (Clomid).
I'm hoping since I've had the bloodwork done and talked to the Doc about it it'll be Murphy's law and I'll get PG. Fingers Crossed!! I hope it happens for you too!

Re: Had my Dr. appt yesterday
Besides the m/c, do you have any cause for concern, i.e. irregular cycles/bleeding or short LP? If you're concerned you should have some testing done. At least have the SA and some blood tests done, those tests are simple.
I was only trying for 5 months when I went to the RE. I didn't ovulate so I wasn't going to waste time with an OB when I needed extra care. However, the OB can do the first step tests for you and prescribe clomid, but I've heard they don't monitor you as closely as a RE does.
If your ok with waiting, than see what happens with your OB. But if not, I would ask him to do the testing sooner or maybe see someone else.
Good luck!

Re: Had my Dr. appt yesterday
Mine sent me for CD 21 bloodwork and will send DH for a SA next month if this is not our month. He is very proactive with me since I have an underlying autoimmune disease. But you have a plan!

Re: Had my Dr. appt yesterday
How old are you?
How long after the m/c did you start trying again?
What are you using to detect O? What is your BD plan?

Thanks guys!
I am 30 we starting trying right after the m/c . We use CBEFM and I temp as well.. this month I am just going to bd every other day starting on CD11 and the two days of peak. So it has been 7 months. AF is pretty regular and I got a peak on the CBEFM so I think I am ovulating.

Okay - thanks for the info.
So, my advice would be to have an SA done. Your DH can go and get it done.. it doesn't have to be with an RE - he can go to a urologist or whomever. That will at least rule that out.
I'd also ask for CD 3 and CD 21 testing. They are only bloodwork - so maybe your ob/gy would be open to getting those done. Those should give you hopefully other things to rule out for now.. and then in April if you still aren't PG, that might be a good time for the HSG.

Re: Had my Dr. appt yesterday
I would insist on the basic tests. I think it's ridiculous they make you wait another 4 months. There's no point.

Re: Had my Dr. appt yesterday
Sounds like you have a solid plan and your doctor knows what he is talking about. so you don't need testing!
