going to bed trouble- for years.
My 3 year old has a terrible time going to bed, and it's been that way since she was 6 months old. She screams every night. The only way she doesn't is if she comes into my bed, or if she is sick. We have tried all the typical solutions. Pretty much anything in any book or any ideas you can find on the internet, we have tried. Any ideas from friends and the ped, we have tried. Has anyone had a kid like this and what did you do? She stays up very late screaming and fighting sleep, and I'm at a loss. MOst days, she can still get up on time and is well-behaved and sweet the next day. But, some days, she wakes up early, too, and then cannot handle it. Today she woke up at 5 something and was screaming. She never went back to bed. She came into my bed after my alarm went off at 5:45, and hung out there while I got ready. She was fine and well behaved at first, but then fell asleep on the way to school and lost it when I woke her up. Normally, I wake her up between 6:45 and 7 for school. She resists at first, but then is fine the rest of the day.

Wish I could help. My almost 3 yr old DS is giving us problems too. He was a great sleeper up until a few months ago. Then he would scream when we try to put him to sleep and when he finally went to sleep he'd get up and scream for us. Usually took so long to calm him. When he finally did calm down he'd be too tired in the mornings and moody to get ready to go to daycare. He's been better now, but it's b/c he'll go to sleep on our floor. He does go to bed around 9:30ish. Both DH and I WFT. It's the only way we can all STTN. He's still moody when I get him up in the mornings, but not as bad as he used to be.

Yeah, she will sleep in my bed, even if I'm not there, without a problem. She says she'll save me a spot. Then she sleeps fine, but DH hates it and then won't sleep in bed with us, and that's not good for us. We're thinking about getting a bigger bed (we havea queen), but really, I know that's not helping anything in the long run. It's just a quick fix. So, I don't know what to do. I think it's just her....I always hated going to bed, and sometimes still do.
