19 month - recently trouble getting her to bed

my DD is 19 months. she sleeps 12 hours during the night and takes a 2 hour nap. we usually have no problems getting her to bed or her nap. she has a bottle, finishes, sees the crib and lays down. for the past week she has been napping more and wanting to sleep later but most troublesome is that she is not going to bed easily. we have to rock her for a half hour. if we put her in the crib she stands up and screams for us. we try letting her cry but we're afraid that she will fall when she is standing and hurt herself. when she was younger we did the 'ferber' method - not sure about spelling. any suggestions for a toddler? thanks so much

Maybe it's the age. My DS just turned 18 months and the last 2 days he has been crying at naptime, I had to let him cry it out 20 minutes or so. Bedtime hasn't been easy either and he's been waking and crying at night, reaching out for us to pick him up, all new behaviors.

No advice, just letting you know we are there too. I've been firm with naptime. I know he needs his nap so I've had to be strong and let him cry. Night wakeups are harder bc he's teething (canines) and so I feel bad.

Thanks. I know her teeth are bothering her too. She had 6 since october, then just got one molar in last month and another one a week ago. i'm pretty sure there are a lot more ready to pop thru. it just took us over an hour to get her to bed. do you give your child tylenol for the teeth at night?

I posted something similar today. I am dealing with the same issue with DD (18 month). Her sleep is so inconsistent and she gives me a hard time for bed (not naps though). I too only let her cry for so long because she climbs out of the crib. I have no advice, but I feel your pain and frustration.
She is no longer teething, but when she seemed uncomfortable with her molars I would give her motrin before bed, it seemed to help!

a friend just gave a suggestion, put her to bed, if she cries, don't pick her up talk to her and calm her down, get her to lay down, if she cries, let her for a few minutes. after a few minutes go back in and talk in shorter sentences "it is bedtime, good night" get her to lay down and leave. if she keeps crying go back in and only use one word sentences and leave. if the crying continues, sit in the room but do not touch her and slowly inch your way out of the room.

my friend had to do this for a month. hopefully i'm not doing it that long. i'm going crazy enough trying to get her to eat table food and not to throw it on the ground.

She could be teething-2 year molars, bicuspids..both very tough on them. Try some motrin and teething tabs before bed. GL

now i see that my DD had gotten her third molar. it look like she is getting her fourth molar now. She has only 2 front bottom teeth. it looks like she is getting THREE more bottom teeth. Two weeks ago i should have given her tylenol. i wonder what kind of pain she was in. today she didn't eat much except cheerios and yogurt and it looked like she was in pain and very tired/cranky. i gave her soem tylenol. thanks for all of the advice.
