Girls are harder than boys?
OK, getting nervous about the girl thing now..a few people have already said.."beware, girls are harder than boys". I have a boy now and he is pretty easy....Anyone else hear this theory?
I have to admit, i'm getting nervous...I'm currently in BOY MODE.

Re: Girls are harder than boys?
I have a DD and she can be difficult at times...but so can a boy. I think every child is different. I don't think gender matters.

Re: Girls are harder than boys?
I have a 2 year old DD and MOST of the time she's a piece of cake. Of course she has her moments, she's a toddler, but she's a dream. It's all in how you raise them

Re: Girls are harder than boys?
I don't have any children of my own yet. I am pregnant with my first a boy, but I am a preschool teacher so I see both sides of it from this perspective and boys and girls can both be difficult. I wouldn't say one is easier than the other. Its their personalities not their gender!

Re: Girls are harder than boys?
This is what Ive been hearing as well... Between the dramatics and the attitude we better be prepared! I watch a 4 yr old now and for the most part shes good, good listener, but she does have her moments where the attitude comes out I too believe, its all about how you raise em! Im more afraid of her being a true girly girl bc that was never me... I never ever played with dolls and hope I can sway my child to be a bit more down to earth and not over the top girly!

Re: Girls are harder than boys?
I think it's weird when people make huge generalizations like that. My mom will swear that boys are harder, my BFF will tell you girls are harder. I think it totally depends on the kid.

Re: Girls are harder than boys?
From my own personal observations I feel that boys typically are more difficult earlier on and girls are more difficult later on..lol..
BUT that is a huge generalization.
I have two boys. One has been the sweetest, easiest child ever. The other was tough (but a lot was due to delays (Speech, sensory etc..).
My nieces are the same. One is tough and very bossy. The other is sweet as anything.
I don't think its really possible to say that one is harder than the other. SO much is based on a childs personality..it is what it is.

Re: Girls are harder than boys?
I think boys may be harder in the beginning. My boys are daredevils. They dive, climb, roughhouse, etc. When we see my nieces, they are sweet little angels. I think girls are harder than boys as teenagers!

Re: Girls are harder than boys?
Personally, I think all kids are different.
My DS was not a difficult baby by any means, but my DD was literally a 'perfect' baby. She slept, she napped, she ate. Couldn't have asked for a better baby. So I think as infants are concerned, my DD was easier than my DS.
She is now hitting the terrible 2s so we have our challenges there, but I would say the toddler years are pretty similar in difficulty with both of them.

Re: Girls are harder than boys?
I think it all depends on their home life and how they are raised... If you raise your kids in a wild, loud, parents that dont get along and have different parenting styles where they arent on the same page ahead of time, your going to have difficult children REGARDLESS of gender...
I say to help prepare make sure your husband and you are on the same page regarding discipline and anything else that may come up early on =) Sometimes people have different ideas on how to raise a boy and how to raise a girl...

Re: Girls are harder than boys?
I have a dd and she is a DREAM. Has never given me any trouble and is very sweet. But she just turned 2 so I guess I still have time till she takes a turn. I am now pregnant with #2 a boy and I honestly think he is going to be harder LOL My sister has one of each and her dd is so sweet and her son is a real terror. I love him to death but he is a terror

Re: Girls are harder than boys?
I've heard that too but I really believe it depends on the child. My DS is 21 months old and has been a model baby since he was born in terms of temperament, eating/sleeping habits, etc. I'm due with in 3 weeks so I guess I'll be finding out soon whether or not the theories are true!

Re: Girls are harder than boys?
I dont have a boy but I grew up with 2 brothers and i know how they were growing up and how I was. I also have 2 DDs.... I think i'd rather have 345 boys
but I think all kids go through phases, boy or girl. most days my girls are awesome, so nice and well-behaved. Other days I want to go crazy, but I'm pretty sure it's like that with either or!
You'll be fine

Re: Girls are harder than boys?
My newphew is now 15 months and he is non-stop. He sleeps good - but even when he was first born he would cry if you stood still, he always needed to be moving. Now that he's walking - he's always running everywhere, you can't take your eyes off of him for a second! I guess it also depends what you consider to be difficult?

Re: Girls are harder than boys?
I have a DD who is 20 months old and I was just saying to DH last night how I hope baby #2 is as easy as she was and is. She was and is such a good eater and sleeper. She never gave us any problems. She made being a first time parent so easy. But that is just my experience. I know there is no science behind it

Re: Girls are harder than boys?
thanks all....my DS is very good...with the exception of the fact that is a HORRIBLE eater..he is a very good listener and is not fresh at all - ever. Never really went through a bad terrible 2's or terrible 3's. HOWEVER, he was not an easy baby. He cried a lot, and didn't start sleeping through the night until he was almost 2.5. The last year has been sooo easy with him...But i think i agree with some of you in that i would think its more the child than the gender that determines if they will be easier or harder.

I hope so! My was colicky, didn't sleep well for naps or at night, wouldn't BF in public, etc. I'm really hoping my gives me an easier time.
For you though, I hope it's not true!

Re: Girls are harder than boys?
I have a boy and a girl. My DD is def more active and high maintenence then my DS. She is a very happy, sweet child just wants what she wants ;) Also my DS is very laid back and easy, so I think any 2nd child we would have had (boy or girl) would have been harder

My dd is really easy going but very active. She does not whine which makes raising her very easy. I think it's how you raise them IMO

Re: Girls are harder than boys?
It depends on the baby, but from my friends and knowing babies/chidlren, I think girls are easier than boys when they are younger, but get tougher when they are preteens-teens. JMO

Re: Girls are harder than boys?
I think when they are young they are equally as good/bad. Its when they are in their teens thats a whole other story. I think girls are def. worse than boys once they reach puberty..

Re: Girls are harder than boys?
My DS, who will be 17 soon, was a breeze til he hit 12 yrs old. I never webt through the terrible 2/3 with him and he was good when we went to stores and didnt ask me to buy him things all the time. He is good now, just the attitude thing kills me. But I do work with kids, 14 yrs and going. I have to say its all up to you and how you raise them. Ive had girls and boys that are horrible or ones that you'd think they are perfect. Dont want your kid to have a tantrum, dont give into them from the beginning....etc. Give them lots of care and love and attention.
