Re: Gained too much weight

I don't think you've gained an awful amount of weight. I think her concerns might be that this is the point now where the baby really starts gaining a lot of weight and even if you're careful in what you eat the baby is just naturally going to add weight onto you now. So she probably just wants you to be a little more careful.

I know there are a lot of people who gain 50-60 pounds and say they lose it all so quickly. But then there are others that gain even less and they feel that the weight just never goes away. So you can't really base it off of other people. You know your body and use that as a guide. From your pictures you look amazing so don't stress over it too much.

Re: Gained too much weight

Julz,

You and I are in the same boat. I am 26 weeks and 2 days, and so far I have gained 28 pounds. My doctor has not commented on my weight gain at all, and all of the clothes I bought in my first trimester still fit around my hips, legs and butt.

Don't stress about it. You look great.

You are the cutest couple............Oh my goodness. You look adorable and really good. It's all in the belly and you are not big at all. Like I said before, as long as you are healthy.

Re: Gained too much weight

I gained 62 pounds...most of it during my 2nd trimester. My dr had me on weight management and made me go to a nutrionist. I had to weigh in at the drs every 2 weeks. I felt like I was at WW

I was walking 3 miles a day and using the exercise bike till my 8th month.

I really believe it the weight is meant to find you, it will.

Re: Gained too much weight

You have to remember you started out really light. ( from the way I remember you). I gained 55 with my first. I was 122 when I started, this baby I gained 28 lbs at 36 weeks but started out a bit heavier. I does help to be careful so you dont get to big to fast. Less likely to get stretch marks

Re: Gained too much weight

You were very tiny to begin with, your body may have needed the extra weight. I would watch the Junior Mints just because of the sugar content but enjoy your pregnancy. As long as the baby is ok you have nothing to worry about.

Re: Gained too much weight

Welcome to the club! I gained 50 and my dr yelled at me about it at my 26 week appointment, but he stopped commenting after a while. That 35 lbs they tell you about is an average, it's not a rule. Most of my friends gained 50-70 lbs with their first babies!!! I know it's hard but just ignore the comments. My DH made me salad for lunch for 2 months after the dr yelled at me Chat Icon but I still made trips to Taco Bell when I felt the need. You'll lose it all after you give birth. As long as your baby is healthy that's all that matters.

And ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS take your shoes off before getting on that scale! I made the nurse deduct the weight of my clothes once the weather got cold. Chat Icon

Re: Gained too much weight

I agree with all the other ladies. you look beautiful!

I have also gained 25lbs by my 28 week visit.

My doctor said no more than 2 for my next visit tomorrow, and let me tell you honey, that ain't happening!! from my home scale, I've already put on 3-4 lbs.

I wouldn't worry. every gains differently especially if you were so tiny to begin with!

Re: Gained too much weight

I was thin before pregnancy 110-115 lbs I gained 60-65 lbs. My midwife said the same thing anyhow , I wound up having a big baby and lost the preggo weight in 3 months. So I would worry too much about it.

At 28 weeks I had gained 27 lbs. None of the doctors I saw seemed concerned about my weight gain. I wouldn't worry about it...and eat those Junior Mints!!!!

Re: Gained too much weight

I think you look awesome and as so many posters said, you were petite to begin with. As far as your sweets-have you tried 100 cal packs-I can recommend the oreo bites and mini chips ahoy. Cookie crisp cereal with skim milk will fix a sweet craving and is low fat. Good luck.

Re: Gained too much weight

Hey Julie! I don't think that's bad. You are so tiny to begin with and I'm sure it won't be hard for you to take the weight off after you have the baby. Try not to stress over it.

I'm 33.5 weeks and have gained 34 lbs so far. It's bothering me but I keep feeling like, what can I do at this point? I haven't been eating really terribly so there's not much I can adjust!

I second the Oreo Bites recommendation! They are delicious! Also try snacking on yogurt and pudding.

Re: Gained too much weight

I know they say they want you to gain between 25-35 pounds, but I find that hard to imagine. I'm 31 weeks and probably up close to 30 by now.

As long as the baby is healthy and you are measuring (your belly) healthy, I think you might be ok.

DH has been watching me when I eat too and made a comment to me about eating an entire package of Oreos in 3 days....well, the baby wanted them!

Re: Gained too much weight

Just to comment on pp remarks, her midwife is not concerned with how easy/hard it's going to be to loose the weight. I gained 55lbs and lost it in the blink of an eye. The main concern if your otherwise healthy lies with the size of the baby. Generally speaking (I say generally because it does not apply to all women!) women who gain an excessive amount of weight during pg tend to have larger babies (8lbs+).

Before I got pg I was about 10-15lbs underweight. Initally my biggest concern was not gaining enough weight. Well 55lbs later that clearly wasn't the issue. And while my Dr never scolded me about my weight although eyebrows started getting raised towards the end of my pg, it was definitely too much weight for me to carry around and I will do my best to not gain that much weight next time around. Also while my daughter wasn't enormous (7lbs11oz) for my size and frame it was a bit much and my pp recovery was extremely painful. So if you have your heart set on a vaginal delivery I would do my best to slow down the weight gain. Although I know from experience that's easier said then done.Chat Icon

Thanks everybody Chat Icon
As much as I don't like to admit it, I think the midwife is right. I do have 3 months to go so I know I can't continue on this pace. I didn't eat any Snickers Bars or junk food at work today... but I am not giving up my nightly ice cream!

Re: Gained too much weight

You look fabulous!!!

I truly believe that you sometimes have no control over how much weight you gain. Sometimes you are just destined to gain a specific amount of weight. I gained almost 50 lbs with my first and I ate the same as I did before I became preggo. There was nothing I could do to help it! Some girls gain only 15-20 lbs, and others, like me, a lot more. I hated that I gained that much, but there was nothing I could do about it. AND I lost every pound of it 4 months PP...

Hang in there!!! And again- you look fantastic!! Chat Icon
