What were the violations
418-1.8(a) Children cannot be left without competent supervision at any time. Competent supervision includes awareness of and responsibility for the ongoing activity of each child. It requires that all children be within a teacher's range of vision and that the teacher be near enough to respond when redirection or intervention strategies are needed. Competent supervision must take into account the child's age emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Not Corrected
418-1.8(b) The child day care center must employ staff who will promote the physical, intellectual, social, cultural and emotional well-being of the children. Not Corrected
418-1.8(c) The child day care center must provide supervision of the staff responsible for the care of children. Workloads and assignments must be arranged to provide consistency of care to children and to allow staff to fulfill their respective responsibilities. Not Corrected
418-1.9(a) The program must establish and follow a written plan for behavior management that is acceptable to the office. This plan must include how the staff will approach challenging behaviors, help children solve problems and encourage acceptable behaviors. Not Corrected
418-1.9(b) The staff must use acceptable techniques and approaches to help children solve problems. Not Corrected
418-1.9(e) Any discipline used must relate to the child's action and be handled without prolonged delay on the part of the staff so that the child is aware of the relationship between his or her actions and the consequences of those actions. Not Corrected
418-1.9(j) Corporal punishment is prohibited. For the purposes of this Subpart, the term corporal punishment means punishment inflicted directly on the body including, but not limited to, physical restraint, spanking, biting, shaking, slapping, twisting or squeezing; demanding excessive physical exercise, prolonged lack of movement or motion, or strenuous or bizarre postures; and compelling a child to eat or have in the child's mouth soap, foods, hot spices or irritants or the like. Not Corrected
418-1.9(m) Methods of discipline, interaction or toilet training which frighten, demean or humiliate a child are prohibited. Not Corrected
418-1.13(a)(1) Staff and volunteers must be mature, of good character and possess suitable personal qualifications. Not Corrected
418-1.15(b)(4) The staff and volunteers must be in good health and be of good character and habits. Not Corrected
418-1.15(c)(5) daily attendance records, which must be filled out at the time a child arrives and departs, and must include arrival and departure times;

FYI any parents whose kids go to Tutor Time in Ronkonkoma
They're currently pending revocation. They're allowed to be open while they wait for a decision so from what I read on FB, they'll be open tomorrow. However, who the hell would send their kid there after all of this shit??
Enforcement action is “pending” when a child day care program has been notified that OCFS is taking enforcement action. Enforcement action will remain “pending” until a final decision has been rendered by an administrative law judge or by a court, or until the enforcement action has been resolved. A program may continue to operate while an enforcement action is pending. “Revoked” means OCFS took action to rescind the license or registration to operate the child day care program. The enforcement action to revoke the license or registration is final, and the program may no longer operate.

Re: FYI any parents whose kids go to Tutor Time in Ronkonkoma
What seems worse than the charges themselves are the "Not Corrected" statements... to me, it looks like violations were found, and they did nothing to correct them....
It could mean something different, but that's how I interpret the list.

No you are correct. Doing some research I found some alleged info on how they were disciplining kids by force/physical means and that was a long time ago. I bet it got reported and maybe investigated but they are given time to fix, retrain, i dont know... and I agree that the Not Corrected means this is at least the second time they found these things again.

Well from what I see they are open today. Someone in a neighborhood group I am in on FB posted this morning that she just dropped her child off this morning, spoke to the director, and feels good about everything. She didn't get into details of what the issue was but said it was the director who reported the issue herself to the state so they could come in and correct it.
So who knows. But they are back up and running today.

I could be wrong because I am certainly no expert, but I think the second the violation is found or reported it gets listed on that site and listed as NOT CORRECTED until they actually correct it. So it could be something that just happened let's say today and it will say NOT CORRECTED until it's fixed. I think....

But it seems like most of the issues had to do with staff either being not qualified, or staff mistreating the children. Can't the director just fire these people? Unless she reported it in hopes that they would be arrested?
It's just sad all around...sad for the kids that had to experience this, and sad for the families that have to drop the kids here during all of these allegations bc they have no other choice.

Yeah she wouldn't say the reasons. She said it was up to the director to go public with it if she wanted, since she was the one who reported it to the state. But she just said she dropped her child their this morning and felt good about how it was being handled. Who knows. I am sure that if any staff member is found to be in violation, they will be fired and/or charges brought if it's to the point of something criminal. I'd be very uncomfortable at this point though. I thank God I never had to deal with an issue like this when DD was in day care.

I couldn't continue sending my child there. Many of those allegations are very serious and what if it turns into my child being hurt next. No, thank you. There are tons of dayscares on Long Island. Taking the chance seems irresponsible.

I believe it means that the violations were found on december 9th (that's when they were dated on the website) and they have not been corrected yet, likely because it's only been a few days. They'll need to come back to inspect before they change them to corrected.
