Yes. We have one friend whose single and whenever we go to his apartment, I tell him how disgusting his place is and that I'd rather hold it than pee in his bathroom. Obviously we're very good friends, but it's kind of a running joke between all our friends as to how dirty he is. You'd never know by looking at him because he's immaculately dressed and groomed.

I wouldn't say anything if it is a friend's house. However, my brother's apt recently had a lot of mold in the bathroom, not even in the shower which is clean, but on the upper wall and part of the ceiling. I did say something b/c I thought it was dangerous to be around that especially with a baby in the house.

Isn't that funny, how someone can look so "together" in the outside world, when at home they are living in filth.
I can think of an old friend from school and an old boyfriend's parents. I think these were both hoarding situations.
So sad... I am such a freak, I need everything clean and in order..

If it was my best friend yes. Bu ti had a good friend who's house was like this, she introduced DH and I. We no longer speak. But her house was DISGUSTING. I tried not to go there much but when i did i would only sit on the dining room chair and i refused to eat or drink anything even if we ordered in i did not want to eat anything that came into that house. I am also a germ-a-phobe so i would have to put my clothes right in the wash and clean myself when i left there.

I agree with this. If it was my best friend that I have been friends with since i was 5 I would say something. Sometimes a mess can just snowball and be overwhelming. When your house is a mess it can be depressing. A little help to get started may be all they need.
If I wasn't bff I would never say anything I would avoid her house at all costs and suggest we always meet at a restaurant.

I had a friend in high school who had the dirtiest house. In June there were rotting pumpkins from Halloween still on her front porch. There were all kinds of bugs in her house...she would tell me, "oh yeah...we have a fly and ant problem"....
but I would never say anything...I did help her clean for a party once.....and it was obvious it hadn't been cleaned in YEARS.

From what I hear from my own IL's my SIL's house (their DD) is GROSS She is just a slob. Her DH grew up in a chaotic family of 12 so he doesn't care about the state of their house either. My IL's used to clean the house top to bottom a few times a year when they visit, now they don't bother.
She lives in WI and well, I have no plans on visiting anytime soon. DH doesn't want to either. If we ever do we'll stay in a hotel and try not to eat at her house.
My brother and his GF have turned my father's house into a mess I used to try to clean it but it is overwhemling I spend as little time their as possible and don't bring the kids over... I can't imagine them crawling on the floor

the bathroom had black mold everywhere
so gross- I never went back!
ugh me too although i couldnt avoid going back. i was so skeeved out.

Sometimes it's just the way people are. I have family who just doesn't care and we just deal when we go over there, but we also don't go over there all the time due to this.

My neighbors house was like that, they moved. It was disgusting. I would not eat anything.
I was chastised on another board that I noticed that there was cat, dog and human hair on the radiators and HOW can I possible notice that. Well, when you sitting on the toilet facing it, you can't miss it. (these women are very dirty though-one of them has to have her gf tell her that it is time to mop-ewww!!).

At my friend's house, there was a laundry basket full of dirty laundry in a very visible location during a party!!!! There was VERY dirty underwear on top of the pile. It was underwear that I would have thrown away and not even put in the wash. The house is generally not clean. I didn't say anything. I have other friends that I can joke with if their house isn't clean but I was not comfortable in this situation. BTW, she has plenty of room to put the laundry basket out of sight.

I wouldn't say anything acutally I've been in this situation and haven't said anything. The way I deal with it is I don't go there  DH will still go there but he doesn't go inside he just beeps outside and they come out and talk to him. I don't mind messy, unorganized, but DIRTY I just can't do it.
