For those that are 30 or over...
how did you react when you turned 30?
I've been fine up until now. My birthday is Saturday and I feel myself perseverating more and more on the fact that I am going to be 30. I don't understand why. I feel like I am really old, when I know this is ridiculous.
Any advice?

I just turned 30 in August...
it was weird, I feel old...but it wasn't as jarring. I didn't do a big party, just went to my dad's on the actual day with the DH and Bella, got massages with his wife...and got blinding drunk later that night
I went for the bling ...somehow, a nice shiny ring softened the blow a bit.
Now thirty-ONE may be a totally different story

I spent my 30th bday waiting for the arrival of my last child! She was born 6 days later. I'm more freaked out about my bdays now

only thing i thought about was babies and how i have to get moving on that while i'm still healthy!

I did get a nice ring from Tiffany and Co for my birthday and there are diamonds.
I guess I thought I would have children by now and a house and stuff.
I know life doesn't always work out the way we planned.
Let's hope I partake in the alcohol on Saturday and laugh my azz off!

Just some perspective
At 30, I just moved to LA and was starting my career over and making new friends and building a new home for myself
At 30, I didn't have a signficant other but had lots of fun
At 30, I was still such a baby and had so much to learn it was crazy
At 30, I still didn't go on one trip by myself- by 34 I had been to Thailand alone and Australia with one friend for over a month
At 30, I didn't see how I was EVER going to be a wife and mother, in fact I had given up.
Now at 37, I have an incredible DH, a beautiful 8 month DD, and a wonderful home. I love my job and am planning a future career at as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I didn't see any of this at 30 but that was when I started to finally have a damn good time!

Life doesn't always work out as planned. At 23, I would have LAUGHED a big guffaw at people who told me I would be where I was at right now.
Marriage and a mortgage was not in the 10 year plan...hell, 6 years ago I was living ALONE in LA. But I am realizing more every day that good and bad, you cannot plan life...it happens...twists and turns...
sometimes it sucks, and sometimes it's amazing. It's those amazing moments that make it ALL worth it.

30 was okay but 35 That one was hard. Turning 36 in a couple of weeks and I think I am going to officially declare birthdays over. I just can't! Though that does mean I am getting close to as my friend calls them-- the F U forties. You are old enough to tell whomever you want FU

I turned 30 w/ the mindset that my 30s would be the years where I had the house, the kids, etc.
But I know what it feels like when your plans don't come to fruition and it hurts.
Hoping that 30 may be your best year yet...

Happy Birthday, Hollie! I hope you get everything you wish for!!!
My 30th b-day wasn't outwardly eventful for me, but more like a rite of passage in my mind.
I'm in my 40s, now. As you said and know, even when life is going as planned, things change (they did for me, and with much  )... So while I'm going through life and working on goals, I have a littler goal to experience good things every day (even if it's just chocolate ). And to know that the joy, pain, and change as I go through it, could be the best part of a life.
