for those of you who get real Christmas trees

How long before Christmas do you usually get them? I like mine to last until the week after New Year's, but I can't remember when we bought it last year. I want to say around December 15th... is that too early?

Re: for those of you who get real Christmas trees

last year we got ours on 12/9...We left it up until the week after New Years...It was very healthy as we did cut it down fresh...

I think Dec 15th is still good but you might have a difficult time finding a "good" tree if you are cutting it down

Thank you all!!

Hey - where out east can you cut them down?

We used to go to PA to do it, but that's not an option this year.

Re: for those of you who get real Christmas trees

We got ours the first week of December and it would last well after New Year's.. (we usually take it down the week of, but my folks keep theirs up well after and they get real trees)

We also put a spoonful of sugar into the water.. it seems to work nicely.

We usually get ours the 1st weekend in December.

We make a weekend of it with our friends from CT. We all pile into our truck and head up to Evergreen Tree Farms in Millbrook, NY. They have the best trees! Although this year they won't have any trees over 10'. Chat Icon

Re: for those of you who get real Christmas trees

Depends, if I cut one down, it's usually the week after Thanksgiving, but if I buy one, I get it closer to christams.

Re: for those of you who get real Christmas trees

We used to do real tree - 2 weeks before is the earliest we'd ever buy one.

Which is why we switched to fake. We like being able to put the tree up the day after Thanksgiving so we can enjoy it a full month.

Re: for those of you who get real Christmas trees

We decorate and buy our tree the first wekend we have off after Thanksgiving. It's normally the 1st weekend in December. This year we're doing it on Dec1. We put a ground up asprin in the water the first time we water it and it seems to help. We throw our tree out after new years. Hope that helpsChat Icon

Re: for those of you who get real Christmas trees

last year we got ours around Dec. 10....and by Christmas it was hanging on one side, it was not good. I took it right down the day after Christmas and just kept up my other decorations.

Let's hope this year it lasts a bit longer. Chat Icon
