Flu Shot
Is everyone giving their DC the flu shot? I don't get it myself and I don't want to give it to DS. Just want to see what everyone else is doing? ITA

Re: Flu Shot
I never had the flu shot, never had the flu and I am not intending on getting a flu shot ever- until I'm elderly maybe.
But I always give it to DD since she could get it at 6 months old. She is in daycare and the flu is more serious in babies and young children. I don't love the idea- but don't want to take a chance.
She hasn't had a reaction to it ever.

Re: Flu Shot
I got mine last week, both kids are getting theirs next week. Actually DS (13months) already had the 1st one but they need 2 at that age so he's going back next week when DD (4 yr) gets hers. Its a personal choice. I choose to get it for my kids and myself. A lot of people dont though.

Flu Shot
I haven't gotten mine yet but, plan on it this week. The boys both got theirs at the end of September.
They are in daycare so I feel it is well worth it.

Re: Flu Shot
I never got the flu shot myself until I had kids, now its a must. DH is on the subway & interacts with so many people, we are better safe. Both boys got theirs in September. My oldest is in school 3 days & Nicky is with me at every drop off & pick up

Flu Shot
DD will hopefully get her first dose tomorrow. She got it last year at 6 months and I've gotten it the last two years. My ped gave it to me last year when DD was 5 months and still too young to help keep her safe. Everyone I know who's infant or toddler has had the flu says it's horrible and they will give the shot. I'd rather learn from their experience than take my chances with DD.

Flu Shot
My whole family gets it every year. I never did until I was pregnant with my first. With young children, it's not a chance I'm willing to take. They will always get the shot.

You'll get people who are strong for & strong against.
I got it, along with my entire family & our babysitter.
Almost saw a healthy person die of the flu... have always gotten it after than.

Re: Flu Shot
My Dd has gotten one every year from as early as she could. She's 2 now and got hers last week. No reaction. I get one every year, and DH gets one every year as well through his job. None of us have ever had a reaction. The pros far out weigh the cons (if there even are any),IMO.

Yes they begin at 6 mo. Usually split doses. My ped office does the first time in split doses even at 1 year.

Flu Shot
Dd got hers the other day at. She's 12 months. The following day she had less of an appetite but I'm not sure if that was from the flu shot or because her molars are coming in and hurting her. But other than that she was fine. She has to get a second shot in 30 days bc they split the dosage at that age.

Re: Flu Shot
I have never gotten a flu shot and never planned to give it to my kids. But every time DD gets even a slight cold it goes right to her chest and she has trouble breathing, so we gave it last year and will probably do it again for at least one more year.

Re: Flu Shot
I'm assuming dd's doctor will discuss it with us at her 10 month visit next week. I'd err on the side of receiving it, as she is in daycare. I got mine bc I work at a school and also wanted to reduce my chances of getting it myself and passing it onto dd
