Fever from MMR days later?
DS got the MMR 13 days ago. DH took him so of course when I asked all these questions about side effects and what not DH didn't remember what the ped said or didn't bother to ask. Anyway, he does remember that the ped told him that DS will probably get really cranky about 10-12 days later and might get a fever. So last night, 12 days after the MMR, DS woke up at 1am screaming his head off and felt really warm. The heat was really high for some reason and he sleeps in between DH and I so he's always a bit warm but I had DH take his temp anyway and it was 103. I asked DH if the ped said this would be a normal temp, how long it would last, if we should call if he gets a temp, etc etc, he didn't have an answer to any of those questions, I was so angry. I gave DS motrin and a bottle of cold water and nursed him back to sleep. He is fine this morning. Is this a normal reaction to the MMR? Did I do the right thing for the fever?

Re: Fever from MMR days later?
I just went through this last month. DS got a fever of 101 exactly 8 days after his MMR & then spiked to 103. Our ped said anything over 101 to call them. His fever lasted about 36 hrs.

Re: Fever from MMR days later?
I would call with a 103, that seems high for MMR reaction.

Re: Fever from MMR days later?
DS got a fever of 103+ about 10 days after he got the MMR. They told us anything above 100.5 to call. We took him to pm pediatrics and he checked out ok except for the fever. It lasted til the next day but lower, about 101.5 or so. They said it may have been an uncharacteristic high fever reaction to the MMR or the fever virus.

Re: Fever from MMR days later?
I was told high fevers were possible about 2 wks after (could be as early as 7 days or as late as 3 wks). I know several children who had fevers around 103 and even higher. DS had a high 101 fever but, he was older when he got the shot. I would call if you are worried but, I think this is par for the course with the MMR.
