we had a couple favorites- rabbit wine saver, rabbit corkscrew machine thing, an expresso machine and hands down favorite- a margarita set with tequila and margarita mix
can you tell we like to drink

We got a lot of gift cards when we moved into our house along with bottles of wine.
A great gift is a lowes or home depot gift card. Chances are the new homeowner will be spending a lot of time and money there!

someone gave us a great divided appetizer/crudite tray that we use all the time, i think it was from Ikea.
We're about to give our friends a housewarming gift that i think is pretty cool (but i'm biased of course) - a yankees neon sign to hang in their Den (they're both big fans)
i happen to love this piece also, friends of ours have it and i had to run out and get it for myself - its at BBB

I just pointed that out to Brad in BBB the other day, because I love it, and his response was, "where are we going to store it"? 
Honestly, my favorite housewarming gift was all of the gift cards we received to various stores. We were able to use them for several things that we wanted, including a wine fridge from BBB, and an accent table from Pier 1.

i know for me personally i would really love a gift card to home depot or loews.. theres just so much extra stuff you will need that you dont think of once you get a house.. like from tools to lawn mowers, etc.

It was our first personalized item for our new home.

I really appreciated HD giftcards but one of my absolute favorite tangible gift was a rival rice cooker I use that thing almost every day b/c its also a slower cooker and steamer.

We got a gift card to the Peconic Herb Farm...we used it towards their design service, which I think was $150 and then that $ went towards any of the plants we purchased off that design.
Genius idea, and super-helpful.
