What was your favorite non-registery shower gift?
My godmother's daughter is getting married and I need to get a gift. Everything has been bought off her registery, I don't want to just give a gc. Any ideas?

I got some decorative serving pieces, not too fancy that I wondered when I would ever use them...
I love them! I have a ceramic thing with 3 small bowls on it in all these vibrant colors. I use it to put out olives, roasted peppers, and artichoke hearts in when I do lunches with guests.

non-registry was definitely from my aunt--- it was 2 white terry cloth robes personalized w/ each of our names rolled up and put in a wicker basket --- it was labeled using regular printer paper but had photos of me growing up--- she gave us that and photo coasters--- I love both of them!!!

Monogrammed "Hotel" towels from Fortunoff. They are so nice!
Also, some silicone bakeware with a few cookbooks with easy to make recipes

My spice basket.
My MOH asked everyone to submit a recipie and bring a long a container of whatever spice is needed for it.
I got some common ones, some I barely knew what to do with and some expensive ones... it really helped stock the pantry. They can be expensive to buy all at once when you move.

How about getting the guest list from whomever is throwing the shower and pre-addressing thank you cards and putting stamps on them I am doing this for my sister for her baby shower.

My dad had a bottle of Champagne and choc strawberry's delivered to our house the next night. Joe had to work during the shower and my dad wanted him to feel like a part of the day since it was for both of us Also......my mom bought DH all of the Good Eats DVDs because Joe LOVES them. He was soooooooooo excited and she bought me a very pretty nighty for the honeymoon. My aunt made us some holiday pillowcases. @ for EVERY holiday..  President's Day never goes forgoten at our house

A woman that my mother works with, whom I've never met, made us a quilt with our bedroom colors. It's beautiful, and so touching, that someone would put so much time and effort into something for someone she doesn't even know. We don't sleep with it, but it hangs over our bed (when it's made).
Some people are just so thoughtful, and that's what makes it a wonderful gift.

Also...a basket filled with stationery, pens, thank you note cards, stamps, etc. Totally came in handy
