Espresso is in the hospital..Update
Our little man was so sick last night and I thought it was just a bladder or kidney infection, but when DH took him to the vet - his urethra is blocked.
Now, he has to have a catheter inserted into his urethra and his system has to be flushed out. Then they have to monitor him to make sure they don't reappear. So, our poor little man has to spend the next 3 to 4 days in the hospital.....
UPDATE: I want to thank everyone for the prayers and concern. He is home now...a little shaved and P.O.'d, but he is doing okay. He is on a special diet and we are just going to have to watch him very closely.
We opted out of the surgery because it's A- extremely expensive ($5K) and B - There is no guarantee it won't come back even with the surgery. We just can't afford it right now and what we did do ended up costing $2300, so we are hoping and praying that works.
He's been a happy man since he got home - he wants nothing but lovin's from us . Just keep your fingers crossed that he stays well!
And thank you all again, your prayers worked!!!!

I called this morning...the Dr. said he was resting comfortably (I think they are keeping him asleep) and that his blood tests showed abnormal kidney function and elevated white blood cell count. She said she didn't feel any crystals when she inserted the catheter, so she thinks it might be a mucus plug. The catheter comes out sometime tomorrow and then they will watch him to make sure he urinates on his own. She said his kidneys should return to normal with the flushing.
If the urinalysis shows crystals, he can go on a special diet. If it shows mucus plug, then we have to watch him closely, but it may be a recurring thing that makes him really, really sick....
