engagement party gift

Have a question for you ladies. I am the matron of honor for my bf. Her engagment party is coming up and only matron, maid and best man invited fron bridal party besides family. It's very casual and the beach club. I have a dessert business on the side of regular work. His sister asked me to do the favors 50 of them. What should I give for a gift? Cash wise. Me and dh

Well yes because I kinda wasn't offered money from his sister but it is for my bf so I am ok with that.

I feel the favors are the gift but if you want to give something additional give a picture frame or something.

Ps to add I hate engagement parties, sorry I have 4 of them coming up. When I got married they were considered tacky but now they are all the rage.

In my book they're still tacky.

Well it depends on how much it costs to make the favors. I would consider that my gift, but if you still wanted to give something I'd do the difference you would usually gift someone. Like what would you have given if you didnt do the favors and minus that amount. If its 0 or negative numbers don't give a gift. If it comes to $1-$25, I'd still buy a gift or giftcard for $25 (or more depending, like $30, $35, $40 etc.) to cover the rest of the amount.

I have only been to one engagement party so i am clueless. I'm the matron of ho honor so I don't want to look cheap. The cost of ingredients doesn't make up to the amt I would charge a regular customer. I would be giving cash not an item gift.

Well, does the bride know that you're doing the favors as a 'favor'? I would keep that separate and get a gift the same as if you were doing the dessert or not.
IMO, its ballsy to ask you to do them for free! should be up to you to offer if you like, but sister should have asked you your cost!

Well, my opinion changes based on both amounts. The ingredients may not be expensive, but your time is worth something too.

IMO $100 is good, and I would deduct from that at least the cost to make the favors.

The bride apparently does not know I'm doing them. At least I do not think she does. She has nuttin to do with the party. His family is throwing it.

I think you can consider the desserts as the gift as well. That takes time, money etc.

Same amount that you would have given even if you weren't providing favors. It's a great way to advertise your business. Attach stickers on the bottom with your contact info. (All favor shops do this )

I agree with this, and I'd also give a generous amount considering she's ur bf. Something similar happened to me with one of my bf, her sister was throwing her a baby shower party. My other bf and I (we're 3 bfs) decided to cover the cost of the cake (which was a generous amount) and part of the cakes pops and cupcakes, I also bought her a gift separately, I'd have done this regardless but more so cause she's one of my bf so that wasn't a question for me.

I would do the same as well. I would either give cash or something off their registry around $100-150. The favors would have nothing to do with it- unless financially I couldn't swing both. But definitely use the opportunity to promote your business.
