eggshell or flat paint?
which is better? we are having our LR/DR, kitchen and three bedrooms painted. Is one easier to clean than the other? We do have a 14 month old 
we have flat in our condo and it does show everything, even water marks.

Depends on your preference (slight sheen or no sheen). I like matte. BM, SW and Behr (and i am sure others) are available in a scrubbable matte finish.

For kids, eggshell.
We had flat in our apartment in the city and it was a PITA! Anything that touched the wall left marks.

Eggshell. You can't clean flat paint and it shows every little bit of dirt and all finger marks. I always use eggshell.

I know the right thing to do is eggshell, but I hate when paint is even the slightest bit shiny. I prefer flat everywhere.

I despise my matte paint. My master bedroom looks so banged up and it's one of the most recently painted rooms, but it could also be because it's a dark color.
Having used both, I'll only use eggshell on walls.

I think eggshell is more practical for the reasons already stated.
Also, aside from dirt, matte is less forgiving re: imperfections in the walls. When we bought our house, the previous owner had wallpapered every surface. Once it was removed, we had to hire a professional painter because the walls weren't in great shape. Given that the wall surfaces weren't perfectly flat and even, he recommended we do eggshell (and I really don't notice a sheen or shine).
If you have new construction or brand new sheetrock in a room, I am sure matte would look great.

Definitely true that eggshell hides wall imperfections but I have no complaints with the ease of cleaning my matte walls. Maybe it depends on the brand. Expensive but I my matte rooms are BM Aura. Recently used BM Aura Bath and Spa (matte finish) in remodeled bathroom and love it!
