eggs and follicles
Could someone help define these two things for me?
I have been getting ultrasounds to see if the Clomid produced more eggs (it did) and i now have two very mature follicles. Problem is, i'm not sure what it all means!
What are the follicles? do they release eggs? when i had an ultrasound last week, they saw about 7 or 8 follicles, now there's 2 mature ones. what happened to the other ones? What does this mean?
thanks

Re: eggs and follicles
As someone explained to me when I asked a similar ?, follicles are kind of like bubble wrap to protect the egg. Some mature and some just go away.
When you O, the follicles will release the egg. Having more than 1 follie will double the targets for the sperm.
It's still possible that u have more than 2 mature (or close to mature) follies. Sometimes the sono tech can miss them.
Hope this helps! Good luck!

Right. So they are looking for mature follicles because those are the ones that are likely to release an egg. If they are not mature, then they are not likely to release the egg.
