Easter Traditions

What kind of eggs do you hide and when do you hide them?

I can't remember what we did last year, maybe DH got up early. As a child, we always colored hard boiled eggs the night before Easter and the Easter Bunny hid them for us to find in the morning. Did my parents really get up early? Or do the eggs sit out all night? I did a search online and says not to be kept out more than 2 hours.

Anyway, whats your tradition?

Re: Easter Traditions

Do what we did when I was a kid. Find hidden chocolate eggs in the yard. Find ALL of them in a record time before my sister got them. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

DS is too young. So the eggs will be in plastic this year with no candy. We will work our way to chocolate eggs as the years come. And I will compete against him for who find the eggs first.Chat Icon Chat Icon

Sophie you are funnyChat Icon

When I was a kid we would color eggs the night before and I think my parents hid them that night. They did a mix of hardboiled and plastic.

We never ate the eggs tho, so I think they stayed out all night.

I just hid plastic eggs, some with cars and some with jelly beans

Re: Easter Traditions

As a kid, we'd color Easter eggs the weekend before Easter, and then we'd wake up and have to find the eggs. My guess is my parents hid them the night before, but we didn't eat them. The Easter Bunny also hid gifts for us, and our baskets would be filled and sitting on the coffee tableChat Icon

By accident, we've created a tradition for Ava. I didn't know what to put in the Easter eggs and so I put peeps in them, well Ava has never forgotten this and now calls them peep cupsChat Icon So I hide the peep cupsChat Icon the night before. I have also kept the tradition we had as kids of hiding gifts and filling her basket and leaving it on the ottoman in the living room.Chat Icon I've had the same Easter basket for about 20 years now, maybe more and my mom still fills it, so I bought Ava a sturdy one this year that will hopefully be her forever basketChat Icon

My tradition growing up, which I'll continue with Frankie, is the night before Easter we color eggs (but did nothing with them). Then we'd hide carrots throughout the house for the bunny. The next morning our baskets were on the kitchen table but then wherever we hid a carrot was a note from the bunny wirth a clue. We'd follow the clue to where a present was waiting for us! Easter was a mini-X-Mas and it was so freaking exciting as a child!

Plastic eggs filled with money. My mom was awesome--she gave my brother and I a paper with how many eggs of each we had to get and once we hit the purples, because we would go through the rainbow. There was a note telling us where our "toy" would be..like...."under the bed." I remember screaming after finding my Cabbage Patch Chat Icon Chat Icon

We hide plastic eggs filled with candy. The big tradition for me is the basket filled with all kinds of fun things so my kids get pretty nice baskets.

Re: Easter Traditions

We havent really started a tradition yet.. when I was younger the "easter bunny" would hide my basket somewhere. I remember one of the last years my mom hid it she hid it in the oven.. and I (obviously) could not find it. I got upset when she told me where it was because I wasnt allowed to go near the oven lol.. I dont think my mom was thinking about that Chat Icon Chat Icon

This year we put a plate of carrots in her room and I just finished putting together her baskets.. all set up on the kitchen table. We also colored our eggs together.. it was a late night. Kaila didnt get to bed until 11:15!!!

As a kid my parents would hide the eggs that morning and my sisters and I would run around the house/backyard trying to find them all. (my mom would always forget where she hid that last one we couldn't findChat Icon Chat Icon we eventually always found itChat Icon ) and our huge basket would be on the dining room table for us all to share. They'd always throw a handful of change into the basket that we always got so excited to split. Things were so simpleChat Icon

We haven't hid real eggs for Jack yet as I thought he was a bit young for it. Last year we hid small plastic ones and filled them with puffs and cheerios. He LOVED it!!!! This year we're doing the same but also added the larger ones and filled them with matchbox cars and dinosaurs. He also has a few toys in his basket instead of candy. I can't wait to see his reaction.

btw, I love the idea of the carrots and cluesChat Icon
