Drs appointment question for those with 2
Two part question...
1. Do you schedule their well visits together/take them together to the Ped?
2. How do YOU go to the Dr? I always took DS with me to any Dr appt, but the idea of taking 2 is a bit scary. I don't have any family near by and like to save friends/neighbors for emergencies.

Re: Drs appointment question for those with 2
Read my post from two days ago. I took both girls to the Ped for well visits = UNMITIGATED DISASTER.
I recommend doing it separately

1 - I plan to bring them together for their well visit in March
miki will be 3 and kj will be 6 months
2 - I work FT so I will go to the dr during my lunch break

Re: Drs appointment question for those with 2
I schedule them separate only because it makes my life easier. My son is 4 is petrified of the Dr, and is hard to handle, so having them both alone would be HARD. Even bringing DH along with DD would be hard having everyone in the room. After the appt I JET out of there, so having one is easier. If this wasn't the case, I would bring two, since it would make life easier to just get it done at one time.
I go to Dr appts alone. DH watches them when I go and I schedule appts around his schedule.

Re: Drs appointment question for those with 2
I TRY to schedule well visits separately, just for my sanity (see Beth's post ) but sick visits are better together. For the baby, I schedule all his visits when DS1 is in school. For DS1, obviously the baby comes along but he stays in the stroller.
For my Dr visits, it is so much easier with 1 so I do that when DS1 is in school. As it was, I had to do all my pregnancy visits with DS in tow and that was no fun at all. He freaked out when I had to go into the bathroom to get a urine sample!

1 - When they were younger I rarely brought both at the same time. Way too stressful for me. Now that they are older it's easier, but still difficult sometimes.
2 - I try to make dr's appointments for Saturdays when DH can hang with the kids, or while they are at school.

Re: Drs appointment question for those with 2
I do the Ped apt separately..but that is just bec they are on diff schedules...one is not due to go for a well visit the same time as the other...but I think once they aligned and it worked out nicely...I would if I could...
I have gone to a couple of apts for ME with my 2 kids and it really depends on the day if I rec it or not!! lol!! I bought a DVD player for my oldest (2.5 yrs) and lots of toys, books, and LOTS of snacks for both (My DS was under 1 yr when I went)! I also was able to keep the youngest in the graco infant seat in the office esp while the dr examined me...i dont know what I will do now that he grew out of that...I will prob use the umbrella stroller to go into the examining room for the youngest! but I DEF TRY to book apts around DH's schedule...late afternoon/evenings..which stinks bec that is when it is busiest!

Re: Drs appointment question for those with 2
Right now i schedule visits together so that it is only one visit rather than going 2 times. I also schedule their visits for weekends or days when DH or my mother is off from work so I have help. DD#2 had her 7 month (7.5 months) visit Sat but DD#1 was sick so I brought her in and got both done at the same time.
If one is sick I try to go when I can get help (before or after DH's or my mom's work) in a pinch I will pick up my grandmother and she will sit in the car with the healthy child while I bring in the other one.
Doctor's visits - are tough when it was just one I took DD everywhere to ALL my appts. It was so easy. Now I really can't take both (2.5 yrs old and 7.5 months) since they are at that tough age. I schedule appts for weekends, late afternoons, lunch time if it is near DH's office etc - so that I can do it when someone can watch the girls.
I was really sick this week thought I might need to see the doctor. I tried to get in tuesday b/c I had help in the afternoon - but the doctors office said they couldn't squeeze me in and wanted me to go wed at 1030 instead I had to turn it down b.c I had no one to watch the girls (who are sick and the office is small and wouldn't fit a double stroller) luckily I started to feel better but it would have been a real problem if I HAD to go.

Re: Drs appointment question for those with 2
I think bringing them separately vs together to well visits depends on their ages. Mine are 3 yrs apart... almost 4 and almost 1, and I bring them together for well visits. If it's DS's well visit (which is really only once a year but there are extra visits like flu shots etc), DD comes in her stroller, with toys. If it's DD's well visit (which is every few months), DS comes armed with books and his doodlepro toy. My babysitting resources (aka my parents) are limited so I def don't want to waste it on well visits!!!
For sick visits, I pretty much have to bring both kids, unless on the off chance the sick visit is on Sat and then DH can stay home with one.
For dr's visits for ME, it depends on the nature of the appt. Sometimes I do bring both (with the stroller and toys for DD, and books/game for DS), sometimes I can beg my parents to babysit, rarely I can ask my DH to work from home and watch them for an hr or so while I go.

Re: Drs appointment question for those with 2
i take them together. either way i have to be there with both kids so why not have them both examined in one day. i did bring my mom with me this last time which made things easier.
when i go to the doc, my mom watches the kids. i have brought them with me, but am fortunate that my mom's not working right now so she comes over. it makes things easier, but if i have to bring them, i bring snacks and toys. a portable dvd player is a must

Re: Drs appointment question for those with 2
I try to schedule them separately as well. This past weekend I had to bring both of them in for a sick visit. It was difficult. DS ran out of the room and I had to run after him. I had to leave DD in the room herself. She is 3 months old. I caught DS and then used my body to block the door.

Re: Drs appointment question for those with 2
Thus far, I've done them separate while I'm on leave. I schedule them on days DH is off so he's home with the other child. One time I had to take the two of them when Ryan had a cold - so it wasn't a well visit. Colin was hospitalized the next day - sure he had Ryan's cold, but also possible he was exposed to something while at the MD office.
When I go back to work, I'm hoping to be off Fridays, so I'll aim to do it sep then (with help of ILs to watch the other). Although I'm sure as they get older, I'll get better at bringing them both. Right now Ryan wants to run all over the place and climb everything - can't wait til he is more into Disney movies and will sit and watch them in the waiting room.
