I'm not arguing with you either... and I'm not getting defensive... I agree with all your points... but my point is that even doing all of those things you mentioned doesn't rectify the fact that 16, in my opinion, is too young to drive... nothing personal though Chat Icon

Unfortunately I think some 18 yr. olds are too immature to be driving

I know 25 year olds that are too immature to be driving. I also know 45 year olds that think it's ok to have a bunch of drinks and then drive because they are only "buzzed not drunk". It all come's down to the individual. I got my permit the day I turned 16. I scheduled my road test the same day (this was before there was a mandated waiting period). I took driving lessons, passed my road test the first time around and **knocks wood** have never been in an accident. There are always going to be immature people that shouldn't be behind the wheel... regardless of age. But, I know plenty of 16 year olds that are more then responsible enough to be driving.

ITA. 16 is kind of young in my opinion. However there are people of all ages who are not responsible. I still know people in their 20's who are completely reckless drivers and aren't any different from when they were 16. It depends on the person.

I agree, 16 is way too young to be driving.

I've said this before. My mom's rule was that we could get our permits at 17, but we also had to have a job by age 17 and take Driver's Ed. We were then allowed to get our license at 18.

Same rules will go in my household.

Same rules in my house!!!

And you know as well as me about car accidents because of several students we went to school with dying in car accidents, even during school hours which is why we ended up with a closed campus when we got to HS.

Yep.
