Re: sorta spinoff: drinking and driving

that is what i was thinking is probably my limit(s) as well.
[2 with food. 1 without]

i guess it also depends on how long you are out and spacing drinks out.

Re: sorta spinoff: drinking and driving

My opinion is one drink depending on the type of drink it is, is okay - more than that I just wouldn't take the chance, I've seen and heard of 2 many people that were either arrested or caused unnecessary accidents.

Ideally NONE

but over the course of a few hours...maybe ONE, max TWO with some downtime to get behind the wheel.

drinking and driving has got to be one of the most selfish things you can do. My coworkers family was WIPED OUT on St. Patty's Day b/c of it.

tragic yes, and COMPLETELY avoidable. when you "decide" to get behind the wheel after drinking, your are making a decision that not only effects you, but anyone UNLUCKY enough to be on the road with you.

simple answer again is don't drink at all if you are going to drive.

same here. if DH and I are out to dinner and order a 1/2 pitcher of sangria (we've been doing that a lot lately), I won't drive home. I end up drinking most of it anyway Chat Icon Chat Icon

i don't know if i was sober enough, or that drunk state where you THINK you are ok.

i wish i didnt drive, thank god i drove absolutely fine.

(with the exception of hitting a cabs side view mirror, but he was double parked and i woulda done that with no drinks in me)

ETA: i was most definatly NOT planning on driving, i just had to because the driver wasnt in the condition to. and i wanted to be on the "safe side"

safe side was probably in the cab that you side swiped.

P.S. you posted at 1:12 that you were "drunko" (I am not stalking..it's like 4 posts down from this one)

The fact that you posted on LIF when you got home that you were "drunko", probably means that you weren't sober enough to drive. I agree with Ophelia - you should have taken a cab, even if you didn't plan on driving, the fact is, you were presented with an unsafe situation, and should have handled it in a different manner.

Re: sorta spinoff: drinking and driving

I would only drive after 1 or maybe 2 drinks (with time between the 2 or time after) MAX. DH will not drive after even 1 drink.

THere is no reason to drink and drive. I never drive anywhere when I am going out - unless I am not drinking. I am a big beleiver in walking, taking cabs, and public transportation.

There is NO EXCUSE for drinking and driving. Maybe you will have to leave a car and pay $$ for a cab, but your life and lives around you are worth a H E L L of a lot more than that!

None. At all. I will not even take a sip if I am driving.

After you have even one drink, your ability is slightly impaired to even be able to make a decision as to whether or not you are sober.

Re: sorta spinoff: drinking and driving

Probably 1, but chances are, I'll have 1 over the course of a few hours if I'm driving, so it's not like I'm having 1 and taking off right after. Not justifying, just saying.

FH won't even drive down the block to get the pizza if he's had a beer.

Re: sorta spinoff: drinking and driving

You live in the city - where there are modes of transportation available to you on almost every corner. I don't know why ON EARTH you would drive when you were both in no condition to do so.

If I'm going to be drinking - even one, I get a ride. I haven't always used such good judgement - when I was younger I did some stupid things and I'm not proud of myself for it, and thank the good Lord that nothing happened.
