I corrected it. You drunk drove and hit a side mirror, you didn't sideswipe a parked car. This is much better.

i've grown out of the whole drinking a lot thing- i'm 27, its time to! but, if we do go out and are drinking, i usually drive because i just don't like drinking as much as DH or my friends do. this fall, the mom of a student in my school was killed by a drunk driver- AND the drunk driver had her own 3 year old daughter in her car, too!!! the drunk driver had been out at a party, they tried to take her keys- she thought she was fine... and now she ended up leaving a 10 year old little girl without a mom. even since then i've realized how important it is to not go crazy and then drive. as far as your situation last night, the married ADULT thing to do would have been to call a cab for both of you and go back with your friend today to get her car.... and way to edit the post where you said you were "Drunko"
first, who cares what age you are in relation to drinking? i dont mean underage, but i dont think it matters if youre 25, 27 or 32.... when is the apprpriate time to "stop" drinking? it shouldnt matter if you like to go out and have fun.... it matters how much you drink and how you handle your alcohol. you just need to learn how to drink responsibly. thats the key.
secondly, what was your reasoning to throw the the word "married" in there?? how in the world does that make a difference?
also, you said this womans story made you realize that you shouldnt "go all crazy and then drive"..... who said anything about going crazy and driving? not me.
and lastly, yes i edited it. big deal.
ok... maybe there was no reasoning really for the age thing. but as far as the married thing.... i feel like being married should come with a certain level of responsbility and maturity- the maturity to know when you've had too much to drink and take a cab or train home instead of driving. this is because when you're married you have not just yourself to think about anymore, but your husband, too. .. your decision to drink and drive could have affected him too if it had ended up differently. and by " go all crazy" i just meant getting drunk... sorry if i worded it wrong. and it is a big deal that you edited it because it shows that you're trying to hide something you did to make yourself look better... another immature thing.

Any of you people ever think about the fact that you don't always have the right to condenm people? You are not judge/ jury/ executioner. Do you really think that by relentless nagging, that someone is going to repent to you? People make their own decisions. I'm sure you wouldn't appreciate someone berrating you over... and over... and over. Drop it.
I actually do have the authority to say something so I will. When I was in college, I had my friend drive me to meet some people at the bar. I called her around 2am to come pick me up because she was sober. So, she wakes up at 2am to come get us and on the way home we are rear ended by someone going 60 mph in a 30mph zone...trying to run a red light that we were stopped at. If my friend came to pick us up in her sedan I would not be here to post. For some reason she wanted to drive my SUV, which was fine..I had left my keys with her anyways....and that is why I am here to say that drunk driving kills and gas guzzling SUV's save lives.
There I got two PSA's out in one post.

1/2 of a glass of wine is too much for me. Since my weight loss surgery, and many who have had it can vouch for this, I absorb alcohol about 10 times faster than the average person. It is incredibly rare that I drink at all. I am more than likely the designated driver.

Re: drinking and driving
I have found my tolerance and at Happy hour on fridays I usually start with 1 light drink (mostly coke and rum - not the other way around) and then eat something and in 2 hours I'm absolutely fine
Last friday I had a pina colada because it was hot out but I forgot to eat before and I knew I was tipsy so I stayed and ate and drank lots of water until I knew I was sober again

as a bartender, i just want to let you know ordering it "coke and rum" or "rum and coke" youre going to get the same amount of booze, bartenders just think you dont know how to order. UNLESS you specifically ask for a light pour, youre going to get a full count.
just saying.

I would think two drinks max but I wouldn't advise anyone to drive while under the influence.
Yet again, to each it's own and I'm no one to judge.

You know what, but who are we to judge her or her decisions.
I'm sure all of us have done something that we regretted, let's give her a break.
Seriously.

Ideally NONE
but over the course of a few hours...maybe ONE, max TWO with some downtime to get behind the wheel.
drinking and driving has got to be one of the most selfish things you can do. My coworkers family was WIPED OUT on St. Patty's Day b/c of it.
tragic yes, and COMPLETELY avoidable. when you "decide" to get behind the wheel after drinking, your are making a decision that not only effects you, but anyone UNLUCKY enough to be on the road with you.
simple answer again is don't drink at all if you are going to drive.

Same here.
And as a person who has lost a loved one at the hand of a drunk driver- I'm both sickened and saddened. Every time something like this happens and it is brought to my attention it brings back so much pain and it feels like nothing has improved since Kenny was killed... THAT is so hard for me to swallow. It is so hard for me to accept that someone I love was taken and people are still making the same stupid mistakes over and over again-- the same mistakes that took his life will take other people's lives I just can't take it, I really can't.
It's like being brought back to that day again and again- over and over.
There are no words to describe what that is like and I hope that no one ever has to go through what I went through and what his family went through-- and continues to go through every single day.

i always thought 1 hour for every drink. except when you are drinking in excessive amounts.
I thought that the rule of one drink every hour was a way to avoid a hangover or to avoid puking, not a measure of how much you can drink and then drive.
I'm not sure how you can put it out on a message board that you drove under the influence and then not expect some slack.

Re: drinking and driving
I do not drink one sip when I am the driver. Honestly, I am usually the DD. The only time I will drink is if I know I am spending the night there. (either at my home, or a friends home)
Drinking and driving scares the daylights out of me

no youre right but I do specificaly say "coke with a dash of rum please"- I just like the taste- I dont drink to get drunk or tipsy. I didnt expect the pina colada I had last week to be so strong though
