Do you think that a woman in her 40's should be wearing shirts that show her belly even if she does have a nice body?

Dressed Appropriately

I saw my neighbor this morning walking her daughter to school. I am not sure how old she is but I do know she has a college aged daughter, a son in high school and an 8 year old daughter. She has to be in her 40's. The MOM was the one wearing very short shirts and a shirt with her belly showing. Yes she does have a great body but I am not sure it is appropriate. What do you think?

I am 26 and I would NEVER show my stomach unless I was at a club or on the beach.

I honestly don't think showing of the belly is ever really appropriate unless you're at the beach. I've just never been a fan of those kinds of tops!

Re: Dressed Appropriately

when i was younger (maybe college-aged) i would have worn shirts showing a bit of skin, or a short skirt/shorts, but not both.

at 30 or 40, no way, not unless i was at the beach. and lost 30 lbs Chat Icon

At the beach? Sure. Doing yoga or something? OK. Walking your kid to school? Nooooo.

Re: Dressed Appropriately

Definitely think just for the sake of not wanting to embarass her daughter, that is not very appropriate.

I"m sure other kids in school seeing the mom like that would probably have some comments and make fun of the girl about her "hot mom" or probably worse. Chat Icon

Nothing wrong with having a hot body--kudos to her for maintaining it, but why put it out there like that with your child next to you?

Re: Dressed Appropriately

I used to wear stuff like that a lot - in my early to mid 20's.
Once I got into my late 20's and 30's I stopped.
Could I still wear it and pull it off? Yes.
But I just feel it's inappropriate after a certain age and it makes me feel self conscious.
Now, I am ALL for dressing sexy. And I do. But there is a way of doing it in a classy way and without showing all your goods!

Re: Dressed Appropriately

i am 24 and i think i have a pretty nice body, well maybe not entire body but def a nice stomach and i am way too embarrased to dress like that now without kids!......i think you can still look sexy without showing bare skin - i def think there are ways to show that you have a nice body and look sexy but without making yourself look trashy.....def inappropriate to me....

Not very classy in my opinion whether she has a great body or not. BUT, I wouldn't sit there and judge her and say, oh, how can she wear that, etc etc.

Re: Dressed Appropriately

Ok, it might be warm out right now, but still unless it is 124 degrees out, MOM should not be wearing a shirt like that to bring her kid to school.

I wouldn't do it but I don't think I'd give it a lot of thought if I saw someone else dressed that way.
