I think the problem here arises with the original poster, usually.
IMO, threads turn into drama when the original poster is not happy with the responses he/she receives. So, the OP gets defensive and the thread quickly turns to drama.
I've seen a lot of threads on here that are debates and although not everyone has the same opinion (obviously) people express their opinions and sometimes it gets ugly, but usually not. I think after a while most people agree to disagree.
What I never do understand is why people get upset when they are called out on things. I've seen it over and over...I even started a thread about it once.
I swear some people have no memory, they post about their life and then get upset if they have something thrown back at them.
I totally agree!! Some people can not take constructive critism and get their panty's in a bunch.
Also the eye rolling is pretty annoyiong too and gets people really riled up.
