we are doing it ourselves, DH is a carpenter. Our materials should cost about $3,500.The plan we have has a loft storage area over the garage.

We have a 1.5 car garage that DH insisted upon. I'm hoping to get my car in the garage esp. when I have baby, but he's hoping for a huge workshop area...(I told him he can have the whole basement).

We have a 1.5 Car garage that is attached to the house. We have storage shelves set up around the sides, our Oil tank is in there, and that is where my 66 Beetle sleeps.

We technically have a two car but it would be tight if we actually tried to get two cars in there. It is really long on one side though so there is a lot of extra storage space which is nice.

Yep, we have a one car garage that we are considering breaking into for a dining room. We would only take half to three quarters of it and leave the rest for our bikes and shovels and stuff.

None. The previous owners had an attached garage and converted it into part of the house to make it bigger.
There is room for one at the end of the driveway but we won't bother putting one in.
We have enough storage too, so it's not a big deal to us. I've had a garage and didn't use it much.

No garage. My house is extended so my dining room is located where the garage should be. My neighbor has one and in bad weather I want one but other than that I have a big shed and the driveway.

We have a 1 car attached.
We mainly use it for storage because the only way into/out of the garage is the same way the car went in - there's no door into the house (it is next to bedrooms).
We'd like to eventually make it a 2-car garage and remodel the inside of our house to suit us better.

One car attached. It's the man cave.
My tools, paint, etc. are in there along with the bikes.
We have a 1-1/2 attrached and thats also known as the "Dog House" I just have to get heat, Kegerator, and a TV so I can retreat to the "Man Cave"

Ours doesn't but we plan to build a two car garage in the next few years.
I grew up with a garage, but my parents never parked in it becuase it was always filled with bikes and toys

no garage. it was converted to a den/family room. It would be nice to have for storage, but we do have a large shed and an attic for storage. If we ever buy another house, I think I would want at least a 1 car garage.

1.5 car attached (and slighly recessed).
we said either a garage or basement, but we didnt need both. We could fit a car in it, but mostly its storage.
we also have a huge shed that is empty. I will probably move stuff out of the garage into the shed so i can put a car in it when it snows.

Yes, a two-car garage. Having had one that we can and do put both of our cars in, it's really hard to imagine not having one going forward.
Disclaimer: I live in California. Nearly everyone around here has 2-car garages, and a lot of the homes were built more recently than those on the island.
When DH and I thought about moving back east and did realtor.com searches for fun, we were disappointed by the lack of 2-car garages, or sometimes even a garage at all.

We have a one-car garage, but we don't park in it. We have 2 cars and leave both in the driveway. The garage is plenty big enough for us to store some things and do some work in there.
