My parents do and I let them drive him around.
ETA: My parents watch DS for me 1 - 2x's a week.

In-laws watch DS twice a week but they never take him in the car. They also watch my niece on the same days. We did chip in a buy they a car seat just in case they ever need to drive them somewhere or for an emergency and they need to come get him - whatever.
It's more for a just in case.
