Does anyone else feel funny registering for...

things like diapers, wipes, rash cream, Dreft, etc.? I feel like that is everyday care stuff that DH and I will provide, not something that could be a gift from someone like gear or clothing. I am being weird?

I didn't feel funny.... IMO u put what you need on there. Just b/c u have it on your registry doesn't mean that you are going to receive it as a gift.

Re: Does anyone else feel funny registering for...

totally not weird- a lot of women, esp those who already have babies, KNOW that this stuff is so useful to get for a new mom....and u will get it along with something u may have registered for....

i remember not having to buy baby wash or shampoo or for hannah until she was like 11 months...what a help, u know?

I didn't feel weird registering for that stuff. Alot of it was bought. My Aunt got me the big case of wipes I registered for 2 of them and DD is 10 weeks old and I just bought more wipes. Definitely go for it.

Not uncommon at all to do that but i chose not to. I bought it all myself....a little every week. It wasnt; that I felt funny but to be honest I wanted the bigger stuff purchased!

Re: Does anyone else feel funny registering for...

I had friends who registered for all the little stuff and a basket they wanted and they got the basket with all the little stuff inside. So cute and practical!
I would put that stuff on, it is only a list of items needed. Hope you get all you want! Chat Icon

I know when my husbands nephew was born, him and his mom bought the baby a years worth of diapers. Even though you are going to need it and provide it, its a lot better than getting 4000 outfits that you will never have him/her wear!

Re: Does anyone else feel funny registering for...

we're likely doing cloth diapers.... so we definitely don't feel guilty registering for them....

I mentally lump them into the same category as other 'under $10 items' like that little suction thingy for the nose, bottles, bibs.....

Re: Does anyone else feel funny registering for...

I put very little of that on... just enough to suggest what brands I want to use. Ex. I registered for an Aveeno bath set moreso that if someone wanted to buy me a bath set, they wouldn't get the Johnson and Johnson. I put one thing of Pampers on there since that's my diaper of choice. I kept the reg mostly for larger ticket items.

Re: Does anyone else feel funny registering for...

No I am going to register for the basics. With all of my friends I am known as the pampers and wipes girl. Most times I dont check their registery I just go and buy a case of pampers and a case of wipes. Depending on who the person is I may get one small item from the registry. I let everyone else get the clothes, but when it comes down to it they can't leave the house or be dressed for the day without a pamper.Chat Icon

When I first started my registry I didn't even think of putting that stuff on it, I was focusing on the big stuff.

But then I went with a good friend of mine back to BRU and she suggested I put stuff like that on my registry and helped me pick out what would be good.

But no, I don't feel funny and I am glad she helped me.

Re: Does anyone else feel funny registering for...

I registered for diapers and bath supplies. I got the bath supplies with the bathtub, but no one got me the diapers.

I think it is a good idea to register for them if you know which brand you want to use. Then, if someone does want to buy you diapers, wipes, etc., they might be inclined to buy the type you want.

I would feel more funny registering for the furniture and bedding (that's just me). I didn't put diapers/wipes or Dreft on my registry either. Just felt those were things I should be getting anyway.

Re: Does anyone else feel funny registering for...

I registered for them simlpy because I have gone to baby showers where those items were on the registry.

Some people like to make thier personal gift basket with all of the under $10 stuff.

If you have wishing well, people can throw it in there.

No uncommon at all- In fact, those are perfect gifts for a wishing well, which you would probably get anyway even if you didn't register for it!..

Re: Does anyone else feel funny registering for...

I've added Pampers, wipes and the Johnson & Johnson bath stuff (just 1 of each) so people would what my intended brabd to use is!

I will not be registering for any furniture (maybe a toy box) because my aunt is giving us my cousins furniture. I am not registering for a glider either because I want a regular armchair & will get one myself.

Also, if it's a Chat Icon .....I will be buying my own bedding because the one I want is not on BRU. If it's a Chat Icon , then I will register for that because BRU has one I like!

Don't feel wierd at all - embrase it. I recieved a HUGE bottle of dreft when DS was born and it lasted a year - no exageration. Every little bit saves money and it's so fun to put the diapers, lotions, etc away and all set up. You can wash the clothes right after the shower in the dreft. Believe me you have a lot of tiime to provide your own diapers, wipes, etc.

Have fun - register away:)

I didn't register for that stuff, and I got a bunch in my wishing well. At least if it's on your registry, people know which brands you prefer.
