registering with DH?

for those of you who already registered - did you bring DH with you? if you havent registered yet - do you plan on going together?

When we registered for our bridal stuff - it was a big mistake bringing him! He went crazy with the gun LOL and had waaay too many opinions.

I was thinking of just going with my cousin or SIL who already have kids an dhave been through this but not sure if DH should come?

I didn't bring my DH- and that was a good choice. I went mwith my sister- who has a baby. I was very overwhelmed- I imagine my DH would have been even worse. I would definitely go with another woman.

Re: registering with DH?

i registered on my own but i did bring my DH with me once I was done another time so I could show him all the things we were getting. I felt he should get acclamated to the things our baby is going to be using (i.e. bouncy seat, bottles, etc). It is better that they are knowledgable as at some point your DH will need to know what all the stuff does and is for. IMO there is no need to bring him the first time around but definitely let him know what the stuff is. I did some research ahead of time on the items as well as have friends with kids so i knew what stuff would be good for us.

I brought my DH and I think it was a mistake. He kept asking me "why do we need all this stuff?? Children in third world countries do not have any of this stuff and they survive!"

We went together for the big stuff but DH was a PITA so I went back two other times. Once with my mom and another time with a friend who had already had a baby.

Re: registering with DH?

I went with DH and WHAT A PAIN!!!!! Every time I was trying to compare the differences between one item and another he would get really annoyed and say 'JUST PICK ONE!" He wanted to just get it over and done with. When I tried explaining the differences that I was looking at and why they mattered, sometimes he would understand and other times he would roll his eyes and say "whatever". I ended up telling him to go find a nice glider and take a nap. I had to do alot of fixing online and had to go back 3 times more -- alone. If you have a sister, friend, cousin, neighbor, stranger on the street, etc. to bring with you instead of DH, I would suggest it if he is anything like mine. Good luck, and enjoy it! Chat Icon

this is how my DH reacts with practically everything we do...

we are not registering, but i am in the process of making a list of items that i think we will need. like with wedding planning, i do the research, narrow it down to a few choices, pick one, and then run it by DH. 9 times out of 10 i get an "ok" from DH...

Re: registering with DH?

I am not going to bring him. I told him I'd spare him the experience! He went with me to register for our wedding and he was bored out of his mind.

Re: registering with DH?

I didnt bring my DH. I learned with my bridal registry that he's just dead weight LOL He leaves all that stuff to me, which is great 99% of the time. With baby stuff, I knew he'd have no idea so therefore no helpful input. It was overwhelming enough considering baby registering is much harder than bridal registering. You know your DH best. If he will be helpful and willing, bring him. Otherwise, I think an experienced Mom is your best companion.

He went the first time with me and that is when we did the all the major items like car seat, stroller etc. After that I either brought my mom, went by myself or fixed things online.

Re: registering with DH?

My DH is very into registering- and of course must hold the gun. He wants to be a part of everything and is SO helpful!
He reads the reviews and stuff with me and we pick the items together.

Re: registering with DH?

My DH also was very much into registering as well. A couple of weeks ago, we went together twice and picked out alot of the big things. I have slowly added things on to the registry list. I was having a hard time with alot of things, so DH and I went again yesterday and did the majority of it. He loves it. I will go back today and hopefully finish it up.
