Do you think you're a good person?

I thought about making this a poll, but I decided I'd rather hear people's answers and a poll wouldn't do it justice.
I'm just curious, though, do you think you're a good person, and why or why not?
I just constantly find myself doing things that I don't necessarily have to do because I want to be a "good" person.
It's like I feel so flawed as an individual sometimes that I try to make up for it.
I try to give all people the benefit of the doubt whenever possible. I try to see the good in all things and all people. I try to just do the right things in my life. I try not to be selfish and I try not to be negative. Granted it doesn't always work, but I try. Yet, somehow, I still don't really think I'm a good person. Go figure.

I do believe that in general i'm a good person although i have done things that I'm not proud of and that wouldn't be considered of a good person but i'm also a human being full of imperfections and flaws and i accept that.

I feel i am a good person. Although sometimes i feel like i am too good. I would do anything and everything for people and not that i feel i should expect anything in return but when it comes down to something i need or just when it's my turn for anything i get screwed in the end. I never learn. But generally yes i believe i am a good person.

Now, to answer your question. I try my best to be a good person. I will say that Im not a "people-pleaser" (word my high school English teacher used
said to never be one) I wont be nice to a fault, be a doormat, or do things just to make people hear what they want to hear or like me.

Im myself, and I do things from the bottom of my heart, not because its staged or influenced or pushed. (if that makes any sense )

I do things that I feel are thoughtful or that I feel might help someone out or help out in a situation. and if it's something that's coming from ME, I will go above and beyond, and beyond that.

OK, so to sum it all up, I dont think Im a bad person, and I do think Im a pretty good person. I try. Im far from perfect, Im human and we all make mistakes, but we all try to be our best (and model that for our children)

I guess I'm a good person, I like to do things for others than for myself.... I'm not perfect and I do have my bad qualities,'BUT' i also have my good qualities so i guess they all even out, But i do try to be a better person, Because doing things for the better makes me feel good. I also feel like i have grown from last year, from being a pestimist to an optomist, and i feel 'alot' better about myself.

I like to think so, but like you, also like to do things for others whenever I can..I sometimes do things that make me flawed, I'm human like everyone else, but I also feel guilty when I do something for myself or have to put myself above someone or something else...it's hard for this to be a black and white answer...

i also know i'm b!tchy and impatient, and the last thing i do is try to please people. But i think anyone who knows me... who really knows me, knows that i have a huge heart and just want to help people and make their lives easier and better. I try to give back whenever possible, and do the little, kind things that make people smile. I dont think that doing something good makes someone an inately good person, or that doing something bad makes them a bad person, but i think the character... my character... always shines through in any action. And, sometime i think the b!tchiness is a good balance- it lets people know that i'm doing good things because i *want* to, not b/c i feel like i *have* to.

I don't THINK I am a good person, I KNOW I am a good person.

I am a considerate friend, I am a loving wife, I take care of my disabled mother, I support the hopes and dreams of my loved ones.

I consider myself to be 'good'..... but 'good' is in the eye of the beholder.

I'm not religious at all (catholic upbringing), but I have a very stringent ethical code I never deviate from. For example, I promised myself to never lie.... even a white lie. I've managed to not lie at all for many years now. It takes guts to be brutally honest all the time, but you get used to it after a while.... and it simplifies life greatly.

For the downtrodden I don't know personally (ex. a homeless veteran), I do my best to help them out.

For people I know well, if they are honest and mean well, I treat them with a lot of generosity and respect. However, if someone is a constant @sshole, and is doing something hideous to someone else, I am not respectful towards them. This means I act like a jury somewhat.... not the noblest of actions... but since I'm not religious, I want @holes to see immediate repercussions.... I don't want to wait for the afterlife


so like everyone else, I try to be good, but I'm not perfect....

i want to believe i'm good.

i portray myself as good to many people, by doing good things. but i don't think that i'm good.

i'm just good at not letting people know how dark my insides are.

I am a good person. I am a good wife, a good friend and I try to do the right thing.

My husband is a huge softy and has an amazing heart..oir as I tell him he's a sucker

I think I'm a good person...however, the chain of events in my life lately make me question if I'm not...and I just can't seem to make much sense of it all. After having my son die, and now my husband divorcing me for no real good reason...I find myself questioning what I did wrong to deserve this.

I try to live my life by making others happy and doing a lot for friends and family...I donate to charities, I don't steal, cheat, or try to hurt anyone...etc. But, yet, I am dealt blow after blow...

I'm sorry this post sounds so depressing...but, I've been having a really hard time dealing with everything going on in my life...

I do & I don't. I would need a very narrow definition of "good" to answer.

I do the right thing. I'm honest. I'm helpful.

I also have a very dark sense of humor, am sarcastic & snarky. I say some seriously mean & appalling things if I don't like someone.

I believe that everyone has a good side & bad side of them. It only depends on you encounter.

yes....at least I try to be and hope I dont fail too often.

I think lifes ultimate goal is happiness and love and I think Im a good friend and I work hard to be that way and I try to expand on that to be a good person.

I try very hard to not see negative, but of course I do...but in my heart of hearts I dont hate...I have no hate and I think that a good start??

I think so, for the most part. I will go out of my way for people, even people I really don't know well.

But once I feel like someone has done something intentionally mean to me I have a hard time letting it go and moving past it. I pretty much write them off. And if it's someone I'm forced to see, like a relative I do the whole fake nice thing. And say some really catty things behind their back.

It's not good, I'm really trying to work on it.
