Do you Lease or Finance?
Im so torn between leasing a new car or financing something older that i know nothing about. I wanted the 08 mariner, but i can also finance an 05 mariner, but i know nothing about mercury- can anyone help?
i dont have a lot of time.

no i dont drive a lot, i would be able to keep it to 12,000/year, possibly slightly go over by a couple of miles but nothing significant.

i always have financed... i dont want to have a car payment forever... i want to have it eventually paid off..

I have done both but I prefer finance. My current truck was a finance with 0%. I like to know that in 13 months I won't have a car payment...

So I would DEF lease then!
I'm sure you'll find a ton of threads about leasing v. financing but I will tell you that leasing is such a cool thing. If there's anything wrong with the car, you bring it right in and the beauty of upgrading it for the current model every few years is awesome!
If I were in your position, I would go with leasing a new car. It'll be covered by insurance, whereas, the 05 that you'd be financing will probably just be coming off of it's warranty coverage.. who needs that headache!
Just be sure to put $0 down though.

We've always financed until last week.
We leased an 08 Ford Edge. We bought extra miles (15,000 per year) to be on the safe side and so far are extremely happy with our decision.
The key to remember is after x amount of years you will not own the car and in theory be starting all over from scratch with a new payment? Are you ok with that or will your budget not allow such a commitment?

I've done both.
Now I lease and I love it. The reason is b/c selling my last car was such a PITA that I really dont' want to do it again. So I get a new car every 3 years, and I Don't have to deal with selling it.
I drive quite a bit, but i got a 15k a year lease.

I really like leasing. It suits our lifestyle. I would not be opposed to financing a higher end late model car though if the deal was good and had a warranty.
I like getting a new car every few years. Makes me happy.

I financed a brand new truck...I do a LOT of driving and leasing is just not an option for me.
Besides, I keep my cars forever (have had three my whole life) so I know I will have the truck for a few years after financing ends.

I have done both. Leasing suits our lifestyle right now. We have one sedan that my DH drives 5 miles to work in, no frills but the basic comforts, safe, cheap and under warranty.
We like to own our forever cars with all the frills. We just don't have a need for one right now.

We leased an 02 civic and an 06 kia and we just financed a 07 Mitsu Endeavor. For us we didnt think it was worth leasing, since we dont so a lot of mileage and we were basically tired of having to put down a deposit plus tax everytime the lease was up. We put down a good deposit and we will finance the truck for 5 years, which is fine because the warranty is also 5 years 60k miles on the truck

We leased once and will NEVER do it again. We were constantly looking at the odometer to make sure we weren't over and every scratch and ding was driving us crazy to think what they would charge us for it. I also dont like perpetual car payments where you dont own anything in the end. We own one car outright and have a year or two left on our financed car which I hope to pay down quickly.
