Re: Do you ever have any regrets about the name you chose for DC?

No! DD's name, I find, people either love or hate. I get a ton of weird looks when people ask what her name is. Others LOVE it and it usually reminds them of their mother or grandma (since Nina is a fairely old name). I never regretted it, I love her name. I swore that my DD would be named Nina one day from the time I was little. My first doll was named Nina. The only time I kinda feel bad is when I can never buy anything personalized for her (like ornaments or cups). I went through the same thing though. I am Kristin most everything personalized was Kristen but I survived LOL

My DS name is Santino and I really really love it and do not regret it at all. If anything I love his name more now then I did before because it just fits him so well and is totally him!

Re: Do you ever have any regrets about the name you chose for DC?

Every now and then, I feel a pang of regret with his name - only because I was a b!tch about it and wouldn't even consider anything else. DH's "formal" name is Richard, as is his dad's, grandfather's, great-grandfather's and great-great grandfather's. I'm not a fan of the name and wouldn't even consider it for a second. We used it as Chat Icon 's middle name, though. I figure, if DH *REALLY* wanted to use the name Richard, he would have put up more of a fight...

I do love my James, though! Chat Icon

Nope, love his name William James, and the name is also common in both of our families so everyone was happy. I really wanted to name DS James, but DH vetoed it, but I do love William (Will). I just hate people calling him Bill or Billy, but you have that w/ any name w/ nickames.

I like her name, but LOVE her nickname. Her name is Emily but we will call her Emmy. We just didn't think it sounded right as a full first name so that's how she got Emily. I do, however, wish I would have considered Alyson a bit more. I don't think it fits her, but you never know she is only 8 days oldChat Icon

Re: Do you ever have any regrets about the name you chose for DC?

Robert was never my first choice. In fact, Rob and I had agreed on Vincent for our first born if he was a boy. But when we were in recovery and Rob was actually holding his son.. he wanted to name him Robert. How could I refuse?

Noah wasn't very popular in 2003 - or at least not with the folks I knew. But it got realllllllly popular quickly. Add to the fact that combined with our last name and the colloquial term for his middle name.. my younger son got hitched with quite a moniker.

But I could never regret either choice. These names are owned by my children. They suit them. I think Robbie and Noah and my mind immediately goes to the most incredible little boys on the planet.. those names describe my most beloved.. how could I regret them?

Not at all.

I think her name is unique and completly suits her personality. It's becoming more trendy which bothers me, but I think in a year or two the trend will change.

Not at all for DS's first name, but we kind of wish his middle name was August instead of Anthony. This time around we can't think of any names at all. There are a couple that we don't hate, but nothing that we love. Chat Icon

My kids are Declan and Ronan. I love both of the names but I don't feel the nicknames are too good and it sort of irks be when others shorten their names. I don't say anything because I KNOW its nitpicky but I usually use their full names or terms of endearment rather than nicknames

Can I ask a silly question? I have always wanted to know how to pronounce Declan. Is it just De-clan?

Out of the 4 choices that we have on our list for DS (due soon) DH & I aren't in love with any of them.. they are just ok to us. There aren't any names that we really love out there for boys. I am hoping we don't end up regretting the one we will choose, but I know we won't love it.

DH and I had a really hard time picking a name for DS. We settled on Aaron Scott, because we thought it was okay. But it really grew on us once we started calling them that before he was born. And now I love it!

I love DD's name (Maeve) and have no regrets naming her that at all.

I don't like that some people are like "what?" after we tell them her name and we have to repeat ourselves several times. They don't expect to hear it though.

Not to answer for Melissa but I've heard it pronounced Deck-lyn. I really like the name.

Re: Do you ever have any regrets about the name you chose for DC?

Sometimes.

Her name is Alexandra Lauren.

I really wanted it to just be "Alexa", but I wanted her to have the option of a longer, more 'professional' sounding name in the future.

I love Alexa and Lexi, both of which I call her often. I have loved the name for a long time- but it has become more popular as of late. I think there are 2 or 3 other Alexa's just on here.

I don't like when people call her Alex and I will behead anyone who calls her Al. BIL had a good friend names Alexandra and everyone calls her Al. I don't really care for Allie either.

The middle name was to honor my cousin who passed in February. I really wanted the middle name to be Brielle- I just loved the way it sounded, but felt I should use Lauren. It doesn't flow- but what can ya do?

I love my son's name. It's classic and not too popular.

I'm not sure if I like his middle name though.

Ryan was the only name we ever really considered for DS. I brought it up to DH and he loved it, and that was that.

We did struggle for a bit with DD's name. We wanted something Irish to match our last name, considered Shannon, Caitlin, and few others that I liked that DH didn't.. but went with Erin and it TRULY fits her. At first, I wasn't sure if it would fit, but it does 100%. I love the name and she really looks like an Erin. Chat Icon

Re: Do you ever have any regrets about the name you chose for DC?

No. Abigail was in the top 10 when we chose it but I did not know that until afterwards. I really don't give a crap what it popular or not. But I would not have ever given her a name that was hard to spell or a name that was difficult to pronounce.

I know this is many years away, but we also considered how her name would effect her ability to get a job in the future. I have actually read how resumes with names that are difficult to pronounce or cutesy or even too ethnic are often passed over in the work place. Pity our last name is a butchered tongue twister. I wasn't about to slap her with a doozie of a first name too.

Not a one. I spent a lot of time choosing the names of my children. I had a lot of criteria to find the perfect name and I love them both.
Miranda and Hudson. My two loves.

I think it's OK to be nitpicky. I specifically chose names that really didn't have nicknames so I would be annoyed if someone tried to give them a nickname for their names and I would probably say something.

Re: Do you ever have any regrets about the name you chose for DC?

Nope. I love my Alexis, the only thing i do wish is that her middle name was Rose but FH said no way so we settled on Paige, just cuz its the only thing that flowed with our last name. I liked Rose better cuz there was meaning behind it (R for my uncle Robert who passed away).

yes...and no. but i'm a teacher and choosing a name (espeically a boy's was nearly impossible!)

my DD is Lily (well her REAL name is Elizabeth) but we only ever call her Lily. it has become popular but i don't care

DS's name is Quinn- it's more unusual and i do have times when i wonder if it's too weird or if kids will tease him b.c it is a little off-track than say the name Michael. i just could not go with a traditional boy's name and not assiciate it with kids at school so that was the major reason i chose it. on the whole i am am glad it's his name since i love it. :)

Pretty much same here! I was a childcare teacher while pregnant with DS. Every boys name I came up with, I was like "Nope" "ooh Not bad" "Hmmm maybe". Then the name Brian came up, but, we wanted to be a little different and I LOVE the name Ryan! We (DH and I compromised)...We spell is Bryan!
Yes, his name is mispelled A LOT, but, its ok.

My DD was going to be Lauryn (Im all for different spellings of certain names).
My mom passed away and right away, if I was having a girl, she was going to be Carolyn. (my mom was Carol and we wanted something to go along with Bryan). In the OR (Im half loopy) DH says "Can we spell it like LYNN...So we spell it Carolynn....
We wont ever find personalized things in the stores, but, thats ok.

I settled on DS's name but DH loved, but once I saw him that was it. He didn't look like anything else.

DD, I regret her spelling, Danijela Maja. Her name was my first choice and DH's first choice was her middle name. So I told him I would spelling in Croatian in order to get it. It gets butchered almost all the time but then I also get how much they love that I spelled it differently.

Re: Do you ever have any regrets about the name you chose for DC?

No, not at all. Before we decided to have children Dh mentioned the name to me and I told him it has always been my favorite. As soon as we found out it was a girl it was set.
