Do you complain about rude service? ( vent, sorry)

at say someplace like the food store?

I know, this is silly, BUT..I go food shopping tonight and I had 5 packages of 12 pk sodas, so I ask the cashier do I have to put them all up on the belt( they are f-ing heavy) And she rolls her eyes and says " Well unless you think I have a magical way of reading small print 20 feet away , then yes"....

OK...I ignore her...but now shes all nasty..and here comes coupon time and she says Oh this coupon is for TWO sponges. I said Yeah see the picture I bought a double pack, it says two sponges not packages".

She shakes her head at me and says " When I go shopping I make sure to read the coupon better and understand it before I get up here and waste someones time" Chat Icon I said EXCUSE ME...ya know what 55 cents isisnt that important to me, so give me back the coupon.

She took it anyway and then says to the next lady behind me.."This happens all the time" and I dont think its fair but we arent suppossed to argue it with them"

THEM? You mean ME..standing right here in front of you.

I swear I was not rude, Im NEVER rude to anyone in the stores, she was older too like mid 30's not a teenager.

And I cant help it all night I have been fuming mad and wanting to complain but not seem petty.

Should I let it go?

Re: Do you complain about rude service? ( vent, sorry)

Maybe you could send an e-mail to the store. People shouldn't get away with being rude to customers.

I had a situation last week. I went into Marshalls to return something at around 9:05 pm. I went to the service desk and there was what appeared to me to be a complex transaction with a customer. So I decided to take DD to see the toys and I would return in a few minutes.
A few minutes later I hear an announcement that the time is 9:15 pm and the service desk is closed for the evening. I quickly go back to the service desk and put my bag on the counter. The lady says sorry we are closed-didn't you hear the announcement? I was like the sign on the door says you are open until 9:30 pm. Where does it say that the service desk closes at 9:15pm? She eventually took my return. Why do people have to be so difficult?
I sent an e-mail on Marshall's web site and I got a response that they apologize and they will share my story with the store. I am sure it's BS but it felt better to vent and write the e-mail.Chat Icon

Re: Do you complain about rude service? ( vent, sorry)

I would have complained!! One time when ordering Dominos I got the most rude woman over the phone. I placed my order and hung up. Two Minutes later I realized I only had $100 bill and called to make sure the driver had change. She told me that she could not do anything for me and I should have told them while placing the order ( the order had not even been made yet let alone left the store) I nicely told her that I didn't realize and as soon as I did that I called. She started yelling at me and then HUNG UP ON ME!! Chat Icon

DH got really mad and complained on their website. Not even 24 hours later we got a call back from that stores manager personally apologizing and told us that the woman had been fired Chat Icon. He also told us that our next order was on him.

We waited until we had friends over one night to call and order.. We ordered a tun of stuff and he kept his word.. We didn't pay a penny for it.

OMG, you are SO not overreacting! Thats horrendous, you should definitely complain to her manager. I'm not a complainer usually either, but this is way over the line.

In general I'm not a complainer either. THis one I wouldn't have let slide. If they have a website, I'd be on their website writing something nasty.

I think a snotty retort was definitely in order - but you have to be able to do it w/o being emotional or (I agree w. Neenie) you'd like like the insane customer.

I did say something to a cashier after she was being nasty to an older lady that could barely stand or lift things out of the cart (she even explained that she had back surgery). I put my groceries down, helped her bag her stuff & then told the cashier that she should be ashamed of herself - and that she should hope someday her mother doesn't encounter help like she gave.

Re: Do you complain about rude service? ( vent, sorry)

WOW!!! I would have went directly over to her manager (with her watching) and let him/her know that the quality of people they have working in the store is abysmal at best. And then explain what happened.

You have much more control than I do.
There was absolutely no reason why that woman should have acted like that.

I hope you made HER bag ALL your groceries!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Do you complain about rude service? ( vent, sorry)

I definitely would have complained.

I actually had a fight w/a pharmacist the other day. Every time I go to the pharmacy, they tell me 1/2 hour. I always give them a 1 - 2 hour window from when they told me. I showed up and sure enough it wasn't ready so I said are you kidding me? Everytime I come here it's never ready. Now the pharmacist comes from behind the counter and says well it will be ready if you want to pay $160 because we don't have your daughter's insurance card on record because you've never filled presriptions here before. I said excuse me?? I've been coming here for 2 years now and have picked up NUMEROUS prescriptions. She rolls her eyes at me and says no you haven't. I said you are a nasty woman. Now the cashier looks at me and starts to laugh. I was so mad.

I just don't get why people are so rude lately!!!!!!

That is out of control. I normally am not a complainer, but this would have had me asking her to call her manager over. I would have resolved that girls attitude right then and there. But its not too late, definately call or email the store manager. You probbaly have the girls name on your receipt.

I would write a letter to the manager. That is completly unacceptable.

I am not a complainer myself, and never say anything. I just let it go. However, yesterday I had the worst service EVER at a Dunkin Donuts, and the girls even starting talking about me in Spanish. I opened my mouth and luckily I know enough spanish to know what they were saying.

I will never go back there, and will be writing them a letter today.

I would've went right to the "courtesy counter" and got a manager. That is BS and she should not be working with the public.

Re: Do you complain about rude service? ( vent, sorry)

Absolutely!!!

I actually did this TWICE yesterday!!!

At lunch I was at Whole Foods, and I actually went to the Customer Service Counter to let them know what a happy friendly cashier I had... She really was very pleasent!

I stopped at Shop Rite on my way home an had some miserable 16 year old girl give me total attitude, when all I did was ask that she turn the belt on so I could bag. I complained to the front end manager standing there.

Seriously, I would complain. I worked at a supermarket for years and no matter what was happening in my personal life or what kind of day I had, I would NEVER act like that. NEVER - even if that was what I was thinking on the inside. Trust me, I could be rude and obnoxious at times but that is just uncalled for!

Re: Do you complain about rude service? ( vent, sorry)

I would have complained. What would people have done about this........This sunday we went to Ciao Baby in Carle Place. They just opened on Thursday. We went to celebrate my moms bday and there were 7 adults and 2 babies in strollers. They had us cram in a small table and they were empty when we got there. We did not complain. We all ordered drinks. We ordered a large appetizer platter and 4 main dishes. When the waiter brought out the main dishes he spilled the rest of my grandmothers martini in the fra diavlo. There was maybe a 1/4 left of the drink. He was going to take the dish away and the people at the table who planned on eating the dish told him not to worry about it since the dish was huge and they could just eat around the spilled drink area.
I asked the waiter if he was going to replace the drink that he spilled. Without answering me, he left and brought my grandmother another drink.
We finished our meals and asked them to bring us tins to take home.....we thought easier for us to do instead of him.
We ordered one large dessert for the table.
The waiter brings us the check and there were items on there we didnt order. He comes back with a "fixed bill" and he charged us for 2 of my grandmothers martinis. We asked him about this and he was like "I didnt spill that much to warrant a free drink"!@ I was ******! We could have sent back the whole platter and we didnt and we had a $300 bill to begin with and he is arguing about a $8 drink. I wasnt sure what to do and we were already there for so long and the babies were getting fussy so we just took the $8 off his tip. I still am so annoyed. If he would have told me that we was going to charge me for the drink, I would have told him to forget it. I for one am not going back there.

DITTO!! Chat Icon

Something similar happened to me with my family (all 10 uf us couples!! Chat Icon ) at IHOP...lady was just plain NASTY...so my sister said "you could either be nice and get a nice tip or you could get someone else to serve us" she chose to get someone else and we all got up at the same time and left...speaking to the manager on the way out and saying how horrible her attitude was. She lost out on a big tip...

You should NOT have to put up with that kind of attitude. Definitely say something!! Chat Icon
