Do you advertise your politics?

How much (or little) do you publicly announce your political leanings/opinions/support/etc?

Not looking for who you actually support, just how much you advertise?

Many people have yard signs, bumper stickers, post all over social media, go to rallies, etc. Others don't say anything to anyone.

I'm very private about my political opinions. I speak up once in a while on here, but that's it. Even on here, I don't advertise a whole lot. Mainly posting data.

I'm pretty private about my politics. I only discuss my views with family. I never would put up a yard sign, flag, bumper sticker, etc. I don't even discuss my views on here.

We occasionally have a sign in our yard for a local politician but that's about the extent of it.

Never advertise. I prefer to keep politics very private because it is such a volatile topic.

Re: Do you advertise your politics?

Virtually not at all. Occasionally here. On Facebook I almost never post anything. Though I will like things from time to time. I feel like there is really not much point.
I wouldn't put up signs or stickers at home or on my car b/c I do fear people vandalizing or attacking. And on FB, as much as I hate it, seeing some things that people post certainly colors my view of them. It's a shame, but, it just does. And I'd prefer people not have certain notions of me because of it.
I have some friends who I know are opposite me, and to some degree, it will - not sure of the right word, maybe - bother - me (yes, I understand that they have the right to their opinions but I can't help the way I feel) but they don't put it in my face, and I don't put my beliefs in their face and we are great friends.

Re: Do you advertise your politics?

I don't at all. I never react to anything on FB. I hate the way people will judge you just for your opinion on one subject. I have unfriended a few people on FB, not because of who they support, but their nasty comments about anyone who doesn't agree with them (ex. one guy who repeatedly called Clinton supporters terrible names, a woman I used to work with that called all Trump supporters ignorant a**holes). I respect peoples opinions but if you start putting others down, I'm going to unfriend you. I don't support that. Even IRL when people start discussing who they like vs who they don't like, I just tell them what I like about each candidate. I never discuss who I'm actually leaning towards.

Same here. I have been really bothered by some things I have seen posted on FB, but try not to judge, as hard as that can be, especially this year.

Re: Do you advertise your politics?

Only on here really.

I would never put a political sign up on my lawn, but in large part because I live in Trump Town. Not putting that on my car either. I feel it makes me a target, and it makes my kids targets.

I was a lot more vocal before I had children.

This is me.
I think most people I know, know which way I lean just based on the life I live, but i've never confirmed or denied.
This year posting on LIF was the first time i've ever said anything political (and i have like 2 posts)

Re: Do you advertise your politics?

Only on here. I sometimes post an article on FB or hit like, but in general I don't discuss it on FB.

At work I do discuss it because I'm in the American studies department, and I kind of have to Chat Icon . But that discussion is a bit more reasonable and goes something along the lines of "what the hell is happening in your country?". This election has given me excellent material for my classes. But I'll be happy when it's all over.

Do you advertise your politics?

When I was younger I would get into debates with people over it but now I keep to myself, I don't mention it. I've learned no good comes from it.

Agreed. Especially this election. I feel like no one is switching sides- they are both so radically different.

Re: Do you advertise your politics?

No not with sign and multiple posts usually because normally I don't care enough but this year while I have no signs (really there is no candidate I am 100% for) and I am not posting a ton on FB I make it perfectly clear I do not like Trump. I have posted a couple skits and memes basically saying that.

I wish people would not post on FB I am sick of seeing it and honestly I have lost some respect for people who actually want to see Trump as our president and one I consider a very good friend. I know I probably shouldn't be that way but I can't help it.

ETA: if anyone ever brings up this election with me in person I will 100% say that I hate Trump and how I feel about him and who backs him without thinking twice. Most of my friends don't care about politics and the few who do don't talk about it. My DH likes to bring it up I think just to get me a riled up. Chat Icon

Do you advertise your politics?

Pretty open. I'm pretty passionate about politics and the candidates I support.

In 2004 I had a Kerry/Edwards bumper sticker and I put bushisms as my away message on AIM lol (I was in college).

I had a Obama/Biden sticker for 2008 and kept it on through 2012. I did have an Obama/Biden lawn sign in 2012 but dh was afraid we'd be a target.

I put a Feel the Bern magnet on my car during primary season and have since put a Hillary sticker over it. My facebook cover photo says Clinton/Kaine and my profile pic is of my 13 month old in a Love Trumps Hate onesie she got as a birthday present.
