Re: Do you
Sometimes - they are forever going to happy hours and I am always declining and making up excuses. I go once for every 4 times they do. BTW they are all single.

No...I report directly to the head of the department (I'm an executive assistant) and I don't think anyone trusts me 100%. I am friendly with people, but I'm never really asked to hang out or anything like that. It definitely bothers me at times.

Re: Do you
no.
I go to lunch with a few but I hardly ever go out after work (happy hour) with them. I'm in a funny position here - I work for the CEO and all my friends work in different divisions so I'm not always comfortable hanging out with people I don't know or I don't get invited because it is a division event.
The ones I am good friends with I do see soemtimes on personal time - dinner or shopping.

I only have 1 co-worker- my secretary- so no. At my old job we would sometimes go for drinks.

Dont let that bother you! I am sort of a loner at my job and I like it that way.

Re: Do you
no, and it doesn't bother me. They don't hang out with eachother after work, so its not like I am excluded. They just don't do it, and I prefer it that way.

Re: Do you
yes. Every job I have ever had I have always gone out with co workers.
We usually go out 3-4 times a month afterwork, and sometimes meet for lunch.
We went out Friday, we always have our regular crew of about 7 of us. sometimes it grows.
It helps as well that we have bars downstairs.
2 summers ago we went to the beach almost every weekend together.
last summer we only made it out there 4 times.

I can totally see that happening It is weird, but we tend to go out with our exact match work peers.

Re: Do you
Yes. Where I work is like a family and we are involved in each others lives outside the office. I am closer to some then to others, but I consider them all my NYC family.

Re: Do you
At my current job - no, I hardly even talk to these people let alone socialize with them...
I am closer with 2 of my bosses here actually than any of my co-workers.. this is a very anti-social firm in general, and I honestly DO like being a loner and my keeping my business prviate
At my old firm (where I worked 10 years) I constantly hung out with my co-workers.. they are some of my closest friends and I am still close to them to this day. They all came to my wedding and when we were all single I hung out with them a LOT after hours and weekends... (I dont see them AS much becuase I am the only married of the bunch but I still consider them all good friends)

Re: Do you
Yes. Well, one is a given, because my husband and I work at the same place!
But my company was relocated from Garden City to NJ in 2001 and those of us who moved really didn't know anyone else out here so we've formed a fairly tight bond over the years.
Most of my friends are work friends.

Re: Do you
I think I would probably hang out less after work if DH was home. He is at school all day and works everynight. So it is either go for a drink, or go home to an empty house.

Re: Do you
We tend to do a girls night out maybe every 6-10 weeks for dinner. Sometime things like.... I had a BBQ girls night out instead of to a restaurant! A few of the girls have vacationed together too! We are going to a jewelry party at someones house next month! We get along very nice but NEVER include the men!!
