Disney character dining... celebrating birthday?

Saving the poor travel board junkies from another Disney question by putting it on here...

We'll be in Disney a few days before DS' third birthday.

I'd love to book a character meal and order a cake for it.. if I do, do the characters bring out the cake and/or "sing" to the birthday boy? I'm not having a party for him so I was trying to think of something special....

Not sure about a cake, but dd a cupcake at about every meal. We didn't ask.for it either.

No they do not. The server brings it out and will sing. They might stop by for a high five or hug, but as with anything in WDW it is server dependant. Some go out of their way to make it amazing, others do nothing at all. I did order a cake for my daughter's first and we ate at crystal palace.

You will likely get special attention if they see the birthday pin on your son. Make sure you note on your reservation that it is his birthday. I was wearing my birthday pin at Be Our Guest and they gave me a cute card and special dessert in addition to what I was having. Are you doing the dining plan? There is dessert with all those meals. Look at this site (scroll down) for the cakes and other celebration things. I did one of the princess packages for my dd at Cinderella's Royal Table and it was really cute. Have a great trip!
